28 in 2 weeks.
Wasn't much of a hockey fan until the 1995/1996 and 1996/1997 hockey seasons. First game I ever went to was an exhibition game in '96 I think. Ronnie Stern flipped a puck over the glass to me during warm-ups.
I'm probably one of the few around here who look back at the Young Guns era with a nostalgic fondness. Was a big fan of Domenichelli, Tabaracci, Kidd, Val Bure, Todd Simpson and so on.

This thread was a great idea, very cool to see!
I was born into being a die hard Flames fan. My parents have shown me old home movies of me as a 2 yr old naming Calgary Flames by their hockey cards like flash cards. Grandpa was so proud he used to pick up hitchhikers to show off my skills (Mom wasn't too impressed).
Unfortunately I was doomed to move up to Edmonton in grade 2, but have never waived from my love for this team. My bedroom always looked like Calgary puked all over it, and now my basement looks like a dive bar transplanted right out of Calgary.
28 years old.

I am 26. I only moved to Canada(Calgary) in 2003, so I wasn't a huge hockey fan (more of a soccer fan back then). In fact didn't even watch most of the 03-04 playoffs. However, watching Kiprusoff live during the 2005-06 season made me fall in love with hockey. Now, I can't even watch soccer, it just seems too boring.

I'm 30, have been on the board since I was 19, back when it was Fire on Ice. I used to be scared to post here because people like Bingo, Elvis99, Cowperson, Adam_Peddle, etc. Those gremlins seemed like the senior guys and would put you in your place.
Saw lots of meltdowns and epic threads since then; have been involved in several - either with others or others against me. Either or, if you're new here, I highly recommend defining yourself and testing your worth by getting into heated arguments with others. The mods will hate it, but the women will love you later.
My earliest memory is, I think, Team Canada playing the USSR in '89 at the Dome. Not sure why I remember this one, but they did have that Yosemite Sam character on the old scoreboard shouting 'YAHOOOOO' whenever the good guys scored. I was too young to know or care about the Flames then (even though they won the Cup that year). I started following the Flames around when Giguere and Cassels were traded for Kidd and Roberts (was that the trade?).
When the suckage of the late 90's began, I got hooked. Anything better than those times is just gravy to me.

But be warned, it can backfire. Come out guns blazing too strong? You end up looking like a troll, and you will inevitably bark up the wrong tree a few two many times and get put in your place just so. Though, once you know who you can get into it with, then it's much more enjoyable.
I'm 26, and I'm a cautionary tale!
Earliest Flames related memory I have was as a tyke, 1990, sitting on the shag carpet in an apartment in Edmonton (only lived there for a year, I SWEAR), watching Flames vs. Oilers on a junk TV and being told by my dad that "We cheer for the red ones."
Never identified as being a Flames fan, but moved around a bit, ended up in Calgary, got to experience most of Iginla's career. Got his autograph at a shoppers drug mart back in 99? or so with Dwayne Roloson. First jersey was a pedestal Fleury jersey (he was my grandma's favourite).
Whether I liked it or not, I was told I was a Flames fan since I was a kid, and I never bothered to completely shake it off. Glad I didn't.

Although I never got to attend any games in the old Corral, (I grew up in Lethbridge and my parents weren't really hockey fans) I have been a Flames fan since they came to Calgary and watched as many games as I could on 2&7. I remember the run in 86, then the cup win in 89. I was in junior high at the time and was one of only a handful of Flames fans at my school, and I had made a bunch of bets with the greaser fans and ended up winning huge. I think I won about $80 and one kid had to buy me a Calgary Flames cake. (they used to sell them at safeway) I still have the Calgary Herald "Special Flames Edition" from the day after the win in Montreal.
My first game at the dome was January 14, 1992 - a 5-3 win over the Quebec Nordiques. I drove up with some friends from school and we had nosebleed seats but we snuck down into the lower bowl and sat right behind the Quebec net and heckled Stephane Fiset.
The 7 years of darkness was rough but I never lost faith. After I moved to Calgary in 1998 I went to as many games as I could - in those days you could go to the box office on the way home from work and buy tickets for the game that night for dirt cheap. The nosebleeds were like 13 bucks (until they closed them) and you could get seats in the greens for less than $30 through Calgary Co-op. The Dome was always half empty and I took a lot of crap from people who thought the Flames would never turn it around, so the run in 2004 was the sweetest payback imaginable. Probably the most incredible couple months of my life.
This team right now is reminding me more and more of the 04 team, just because of the way they play as a team and actually care about each other and the fans. Even though they're lower in the standings than they have been in a long time, I am more invested in the Flames right now than I have been in years.

43 years old. Fan since day one.
Watched the Flames first game in the Corral vs Le Nordiques. My brothers and I watched from the standing room only area that year at the Corral because we were "trespassers".
Since I was the youngest, and fearing the beating I'd get if I didn't, they would make me sneak in through the cattle gates where they took tickets. In those days it wasn't just one person at a time entering. They would let in groups of people and one person would give the usher the tickets. No one ever counted. I just hooked on to a big group and walk right in. Never got caught. Anyways I'd go to a different gate and tell them I forgot something in the car and they would give me a "pass" saying I could come back in.
The pass, of course, I would hand off to my brother. Then I'd do it all over again and get another pass for my other brother. Then I'd have to sneak in a third time to get myself in. It was pretty nerve wracking! It was still better than getting harassed by your brothers though.
Anyways we watched the entire season including playoffs. Thankfully our parents were clueless as to what we were up to. I remember Pat Riggin smashing a Flintstone's Dino stuffed dog that someone had on a noose and was hanging over the glass. It was supposed to represent Dino Cicarelli. His goalie stick broke while doing it if i remember correctly.
Also i posted this story once before.
"Never posted before but this is a pretty cool thread and I have an old story to tell.
Back when the Flames used to practice and play at the Corral(I was 10 or 11 at the time), my brothers and I would wait in the parking lot for autographs.
I went up to Brad Marsh's car, which at the time had Marsh, Phil Russell, and Paul Reinhart in it, and asked for some autographs. I started with Russell. My standard line as a 10 year old was to ask every player
"Hey, are you gonna score tonight Mr. ______?"
Reinhart and Marsh started howling when I asked Phil this and my older brother smacked me in the head and tells me to stop being a smart ass. Turns out that the Flames had lost a crucial game the night before.
Why? Because Phil had scored. On his own net.
Still got the autographs though! Great guys. they even let me sit in the car with them."

39. I can remember being a kid and cutting out the Flames hockey cards off the back of Kraft Dinner boxes. I chose the Flames as my team because I thought their symbol was badass, and nobody else liked them as I am from Southwestern Ontario. I remember it being damn near impossible to see any of their games on the tv when I was really young because I was so out of market. When CBC would televise the game I was too young to stay up and watch but unknown to my parents was that the police scanner they got me for christmas could pick up CBC's frequency and I would listen to the games when I was supposed to be sleeping. I remember making a bet with my friend who was a big Habs fan in 89 on the Stanley Cup final, if he won I owed him five bucks, if I won he owed me his Theo Fleury rookie. I still have that card. I remember NHLCI being introduced and at the time I had a Bell Expressvu setup with a cheater card so I had everything unlocked, it was like heaven! I remember the alt. Calgary Flames mailing list and getting into arguments on there. I remember the Conroy/Stillman trade and I was so upset I emailed Craig Button and gave him a piece of my mind and he wrote me back that Cory Stillman had only played a couple of "freakin playoff games" and would never do nothing special. How many cups did Stillman win again? I remember Eric Francis ripping into Theo Fleury about something and I wrote him a nasty response and it got published in the newspaper.

I've been a Flames fan since my Dad took me to a game at the old Corral in the first season. I can remember that it was the worst insult possible back in grade school to be called an Oilers fan- if a schoolmate dared to utter those words to you, it was time to throw down. One of my friends once called me a "Gretzky lover" during recess, and i had no choice but to punch him in the face. Nowadays, its much worse to be associated with the 'Nucks.
One time at another game, this time at the Dome, I got really upset when the fans booed
Hakan Loob after scoring a goal- i didn't know they were chanting "LOOOOOOOOOOOB".
