I'm gonna set up my account tonight, was away from CP for a few days.

On the plus side though, it appears just doing nothing has put me ahead of half of you! Haha.

Don't worry, I'll catch up in short order. :/

Doh - the volume rule Investopedia has for trading options is pretty much going to limit puts/calls to TSX60 companies.

On the bright side, at least it's possible for some Canadian companies. Lesson #1 for everyone - trading options and getting data for them is a PITA.

Registered as Daradon. haven't made a trade yet. Looking at the site and tools and planning a strategy. (Let's be honest, I probably won't have one, lol) I do want to try a few different things though to learn, especially with short selling and options.

Man, Blackberry is killing me. So much for the company going private and not having to have quarterly results kill their stock price.

Haha, I was looking to short Blackberry! It appears the sim doesn't have all the options set up for options, but I was looking for the 'put' option? Is that the one where you're betting the stock to go down?

Blackberry is a dog man, get out.

Options are setup but they are finicky on the smaller-mid sized companies, especially Canadian ones. Watch the volume rule.

BB should have no problems with this though.

Do you get credit for dividends received or charged interest if you are using margin?

Is that the value NOT considering his margin?

On his portfolio page scroll down and look at the individual stocks in both the Canadian and US$ accounts. Look at the "total value" of each one...$411K $CDN and $419K $USD. There is 1 share of Berkshire Hathaway for $175K in the USD.

Can click on trade history as well.

Although maybe you can buy on margin (what Mcree said)...I'm not sure. Just surprised me. I don't care about the total dollar value, just the rate of return.

I would love to hear your opinion on GTAT. I think it's another disrupter.

KNDI is another one for me.

Seems to take a while for a trade to go through eh?

Made my first two trades after hours so no problem there. Tried to get in on a rebounding stock and I'm still waiting for it to go through 15 minutes later, meanwhile watching it go up and up.

EDIT: Ahhh, just found a message saying trades take about 20 mins to go through.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong? still shows my account having no activity.. When I click on the CAD tab it shows my two stocks I've bought, with total gain of 4700, yet nothing shows in the rankings. did i not buy it correctly?

Edit: I see that I'm 2nd in the Canadian$ game.. So do we have 250K American as well?

Ranking are only generated once a day.

And yes we do have $250,000 USD as well to trade with.

Good day for stocks today. Especially good if you bought with the dip yesterday.

Do we want to make it quicker for a trade to go through? I can set it to 1 min if people want.

Might as well make it happen right away.

Okay I set it to 1 min. Lowest time I could go. Unless a bunch of people complain we'll leave it there.
