American fans on HFB
-Americans didn't care anyway since it wasn't for Gold
-Loss is on Burke and Bylsma, but not the players

It is tough to lose a heartbreaker less then 20 hours earlier, and then be expected to turn around and give 110% in the next game. The Finns can do it but for most (Canada, Russia, U.S.) the bronze just doesn't matter.
|
Why do you think the Finns can do it?

Did anyone see the Kesler dive with ~30 seconds left in the game?
That's why the US doesn't win.
Anyway, silly to leave Okposo and Ryan off of the team, but that lies more on Poile than Burke.

NO. THEY. DID. NOT.
They lost in a close game by a 3–2 score. At least they showed up.

The implication here is hilarious. As if Hockey USA could ice much of a better team even if they wanted to. You work with what you have, and compared to what Canada has to work with, Burke and Poille get the extremely short end of the stick.

Don't they usually wait to distribute ALL the medals until after the Gold Medal Game?

They usually do but wouldn't be surprised if the NHL pushed for this so players can get back to NA ASAP.

To me, getting a bronze medal is worlds better than getting no medal at all. So I don't understand why the players did not play their heart out.

Not in men's. They did for the women's because the bronze game was held earlier the same day. For the men, it's the day before.
In Vancouver, Finland got their medals right after the bronze game as well. I don't remember if they brought them back out for the main medal ceremony, but I don't think they did.

Him and some of his old KGB comrades will be driving cabs in Sochi tonight and wait for Patrick Kane to pay the fare.

Selanne is such a class act. The game is going to lose a little something when he retires. It just won't be the same. What a brilliant, brilliant career.

Happy for Selanne! And talk about quitting and playing like babies at the end. Kane, Kesler, Oshie and Suter with baby plays to make it go from 2-0 to 5-0. Pretty embarassing effort by the US. Finland played like they had something to play for while the US played like they lost already. The better and more deserving team won.
Now the game that matters..........go CANADA!

I remember after that game the Canadian team was blasted for not showing up and Roy said the same thing in an interview. The score was closer but Canada did not show up in that game and it was a let down game. They should have won the bronze over a weaker Finland team but Finland always plays to win.
