Nolan is a much better coach than Bilyaletdinov.

This is like something out of a movie. You could tell that was a play they've practiced just in case the opportunity ever came up. Pretty typical underdog tactic and I love it.

Latvia looking ok but Canada still in control.
Shots on goal after 1: 16-6 Canada.

I predict the dam is going to burst provided Canada doesn't get phased. Just stick to the plan and the pucks will go in.

Story of the tournament, Canada clearly the better team on the ice, the results and scoresheet do not agree. Dominating the play is meaningless when you aren't doing anything with that domination.

overreact much? It was a great breakaway move. Canada has allowed 3 goals the entire tournament, wow, horrible goaltending is sinking them

That Latvia goal was a neat trick play, but I doubt Nolan has too many of those planned tricks up his sleeve. Way to use the rink construction to your advantage though - smart to make it work once. Canada shouldn't have too many problems if the continue to get shots through.

Wow, and here I thought hockey was considered a team game.
Your view certainly points out how well that mentality has worked for the Edmonton Oilers...

Nope, you're right. But that was absolutely brutal on both player's part. Another play like that for either of them and that probably will be it.

It was a great breakaway move at speed. He slowed down his hands and his motions were laboured and over-acted. Price should not have bit.

AP could have had him just as easily as JBo. They both missed it. As for Price, I agree he bit too easily but as the saying goes, on a breakaway you don't blame the goalie.
The main thing is, Canada's forwards look way, way better so far than in any of the previous three games. The floodgates will open eventually if they keep at it. The way the middle six is set up looks great. I love the Getzlaf line, and Nash is in beast mode.

Exactly the forwards are definitely coming together. Getzlaf line is starting to look great, and Tavares is also looking hungry. Bergeron is playing too rushed with Crosby. Needs to settle himself down. And Doughty looks like Doughty, dude's possessed.

Help, save, whatever.

I know for a tournament like this the coach can only do so much, but I really think Babcock is overrated.

^I don't know if he's overrated. Coaching in a tourney like this one is very different from coaching in the NHL when you're with one team year after year. But I disagree with a lot of his decisions (though he's making them in conjunction with a lot of other people).
Man, watching the slow mo replay of the Kunitz empty net chance from several angles... I could have scored there. Bergeron's pass is dead flat on the ice and teed right up for him and he chips it.
