From what I've gathered, the Hamburg daily paper says it's a done deal, but since DEL rules state that no contracted players can be signed to NHL contracts during the season, I'd expect this to be announced when the DEL season is over. Last year's playoffs ended on April 21.
If he indeed signs, I look forward to seeing him in training camp with the likes of Ferland, Poirier, etc to see how he stacks up against/playing with them on the other wing perhaps. He seems more like a Ferland type who doesn't drop the gloves. Or does he?? I don't know of any Germans who do that.
Should make an already much anticipated training camp even more interesting! I think management will have a pretty good idea of what they have by the time camp is done. Looking forward to it!
yes he does fight, quite a lot actually considering that fighting isn't that big over here. F.e. in December he had a game vs Ingolstadt where he dropped the gloves twice.

I can't wait to say "Wolfmans got nards!" every time Wolf drops the gloves.

He'd probably be up against Bouma/Westgarth/Ferland for a spot. Bouma is a lock tho IMO. Any others?
Westgarth is a UFA and may not even be back. Ferland IMO is not in the conversation for an NHL job yet. He needs to prove a lot more before he deserves to be in the conversation. Bouma will be in the mix for a 3rd line position.
So I guess I am saying if he is signed it is more likely he could replace Westgarth, or fight with him for a job.

I wonder what kind of player he could top out as. I suppose a bigger, nastier Stempniak would be asking for the moon. A bigger Lance Bouma perhaps. I wouldn't mind seeing that.

A more talented, better skating Westgarth would be great too
Yeah kind of a hybrid between those two maybe. Even that would be a dream. Haha
C'mon Wolf! I really hope he takes the bull by the horns here and at the very least, see every ounce of potential. It's such a big jump tho. Like others have said, even if he crashes and bangs in the AHL and creates space for more skilled guys like Poirier and Gaudreau while maybe chucking them a little, I'm ok with that.
Nothing to lose, and tough to play against third liner in the NHL to maybe gain..at the most probably.

You don't think Ferland deserves to be in the conversation but you think Wolf does?
