If the affordability of hockey continues to skew to the well off, it most definitely will be #1. Parents will put their kids in soccer instead of hockey, we're already seeing it. Kids who play soccer will grow up and have kids and then those kids will be soccer fans instead of hockey fans. That's even before adding in the influx of immigrants where soccer is already number one in their hearts. It may not be MLS, but it won't always be hockey in this country.
Back on point, TSN is leaving major coups on the table by not scooping up other sports. A huge college football game was on tonight. It was on ESPN 1 in the US. ESPN is still a minority partner in TSN. Why isn't TSN showing that game instead of four feeds of the same CFL game? It's moronic.

Finally got everything books and I'm now officially headed to the Rose Bowl with my pops this year for our annual college football trip. Hopefully the Ducks can win out and be there. Does anyone have any advice on things to do before the game (ie the parade, etc)?

The ASU/ND game has huge playoff implications, too. (ASU up 34-10). Not only because a loss would take ND out of the race and give ASU an impressive win, but because it would tarnish FSU's most impressive win.
ASU needs to win out and hope that Oregon gets to the Pac-12 finals still ranked top 4, but if that happens they've got a shot of the playoffs.

If they lose this game, it will be because they went conservative on offense in the third.

The Utah WR pulls a Desean and celebrates too early, dumbass. Went from going up 14-0 to now tied 7-7.
Edit: gotta think it's game over for Utah here, failed fake punt at their own 20.

Flames win, Bama wins in Death Valley, Auburn loses to an unranked team.

Interesting to see all the different permutations still in the SEC West, with 4 teams still having a shot.
I think all of Florida State, Oregon, Arizona State, Alabama, and Mississippi State control their own destiny, and can get in by winning-out. TCU is probably in the same boat, unless there's a two-SEC-team scenario.
The only way I can see a two-SEC-team scenario is if Alabama runs the table, and Mississippi beats Ole' Miss. (According to the percentages in the flowchart, which personally I wouldn't put a lot of stake into, there's only a 16% chance of that happening). At that point, you'd compare a one-loss Mississippi against TCU, and I think Mississippi would have the more impressive record.

Is FSU ultimately going to get the death penalty? Maybe it's needed to smarten things up. At worst the FBI needs to get to Tallahassee to investigate the TPD. What a disgusting school and town, all about winning and who cares about moral and legal responsibility?
Terrific stuff from the New York Times, because would you expect a Florida based newspaper to be honest?
Quote:
In the early morning hours of Oct. 5, as this college town was celebrating another big football victory by Florida State University, a starting cornerback on the team drove his car into the path of an oncoming vehicle driven by a teenager returning home from a job at the Olive Garden.
Both cars were totaled. But rather than remain at the scene as the law requires, the football player, P. J. Williams, left his wrecked vehicle in the street and fled into the darkness along with his two passengers, including Ronald Darby, the team’s other starting cornerback.
The Tallahassee police responded to the off-campus accident, eventually reaching out to the Florida State University police and the university’s athletic department.
By the next day, it was as if the hit and run had never happened.
The New York Times looked into how the police handled this case, reviewing law enforcement records and interviewing witnesses, lawyers, the police and a university representative. The examination found that Mr. Williams, driving with a suspended license, was given a break by the Tallahassee police, who initially labeled the accident a hit and run, a criminal act, but later decided to issue him only two traffic tickets. Afterward, the case did not show up in the city’s public online database of police calls — a technical glitch, the police said.
Mr. Williams eventually returned to the scene. But Tallahassee officers did not test him for alcohol. Nor did their report indicate whether they asked if he had been drinking or why he had fled, logical questions since the accident occurred at 2:37 a.m. The report also minimized the impact of the crash on the driver of the other car, Ian Keith, by failing to indicate that his airbag deployed — an important detail because Mr. Keith said in an interview that the airbag had cut and bruised his hands.
The university police, who lacked jurisdiction, nevertheless sent two ranking officers — including the shift commander — to the scene. Yet they wrote no report about their actions that night. Florida State dismissed the role of its officers in the incident as too minor to require a report or enter into their own online police log, comparing it to an instance when campus officers responded to a baby opossum falling from a tree.
|
Quote:
In their report of the crash, the Tallahassee officers justified not charging Mr. Williams because he returned “approximately” 20 minutes later without being contacted by the police. That stands in sharp contrast to how the police treated another driver who left the scene and drove home after a minor, low-speed accident in the same area late last month. That driver and his mother contacted the police about a half-hour later to report the accident.
At 5 miles per hour, the collision inflicted far less damage than that caused by Mr. Williams’s car — and no injuries. Even so, the police charged the driver, who was not a Florida State football player, with hit-and-run.

Florida's coaching staff is the worst in the country.... instead of trying to win the game in the third after a big turnover they run it over and over up by 7. Then a blocked FG with less than 4 to go, then a blocked punt with 30 seconds to go with USC on the 30 Yard line.
tie game off to OT and muschamp should be fired after this game
