Super happy for Iginla, who's my all time favourite player. I'm glad he's excelling on a powerhouse team as well, which goes to show Iginla can produce on a stacked team as well as a one man team.
Boston is for sure my team for the playoffs. I'll be cheering hard for them in the post season. Its actually nice to have some vested interest in the playoffs. With the Nucks most likely out, there's no more anyone-but-Canucks team for me to cheer for me this time around. I guess it'll be Boston, and anyone-but-Leafs/Canadiens for me this year.
Keep it up iggy!!! We're all pulling for you!! Here's hoping iggy finishes with 40 goals this season, wins the cup and the conne smythe! Nobody deserves it more than him.
Everyone talks about what could have been for Jagr in terms of goals and points had he not missed time from he lockouts and leaving for the KHL but similar things can be said for iginla... Granted not to the same extent as Jagr.
The 2004-2005 NHL lockout happened when iginla was at the top of his game and he was arguably the best player in the world at the time. He was a lock for 40+ goals and 90+ points. In fact... I would have bet on him reaching 50 goals that year.
Last years half-season lockout cost him the chance to continue his pursuit of the record for the most consecutive 30+ goal seasons... Which I have no doubt he would have broken in a couple years if he had a full season to keep his streak going.
That's potentially 65+ more NHL goals that he could have right now... That would make him near the 600 goal mark already with at least 3 more years left of solid production in him. At the end of it all, it may not seem like much but it's probably going to mean finishing in the top 20 NHL goal scorers of all time rather than the top 10. It could mean him being a career 600+ goal scorer instead of possibly reaching 700+ goals if he plays into his early forties.
Iggy now is the 25th for all time NHL players in goals scored. Even his haters have to be impressed with that accomplishment. Truly an amazing career. Not to mention the current tear he is on. What a player!
As a long time Bruins fan i am fortunate to get to continue to cheer for Iggy.
