I'll gladly take Tanguay floating around the ice and actually doing something when he tries over D. Jones all out effort with 0 results.
At this point all Jones is good for is his cap hit. The Flames would be better off having him in the PB and let a CPer take his place in the line-up. He offers nothing to this team and is awful in every game he played. Him being 3rd star last night was a joke.

I don't believe this would be the case as he was at a "Reading Give It A Shot" event earlier this week and called up some kid in an Oilers jersey and gave him the jersey that he was wearing and signed it. He seemed to be pretty interactive with the kids and a good ambassador.

Yeah, two guys, Sarich and Tanguay who didn't want to be here and at least in Tanguay's case watching his play, it was obvious. Cammallari, reportedly didn't, (doesn't) want to be here either but at least he still worked hard.

- Billins (the team's All-Star offensive defenseman, PP QB).
- Ramage (having a tough go of it lately, but steadily improving).
- Smith (flashy, sometimes overly confident, but a great offensive guy).
- Arsene (team captain, but not very good).
- Lamb (having a good sophomore year).
- Sieloff (hurt, but Ward can't wait to have him back).
I hear what you're saying though. I'm sure O'Brien is as good as gone. I'd just rather not have him on the Heat if it came down to it.

Hopefully Burke loans him to another AHL club if that is his final destination

I agree, I love how the Heat's blueline looks, especially with Breen and Smith there.
I also don't think SOB will report of demoted. Waiving him this short of time after Smith was demoted makes no sense to me, SOB is more than serviceable as a #7 defenseman, this is clearly to get him away from the team.
I wouldn't be shocked in the slightest to see him either claimed, or see him clear and be dealt within hours of clearing so another team can demote him and recall him when they need depth.

I am kind of hoping he refuses to report as it should allow the Flames to dissolve his contract.

If I was Sarich I would hate Hartley too! While he wasn't great I thought Sarich brought a lot of physicality and energy to the few games he actually got to play in.

not sure what incentive a guy in his position has to turn down a guaranteed $2 million next season

Pride? If I were in his position I would rather make the league minimum than be in the AHL.

You've been pretty even keeled lately, but you're off on this one.
Take your answer, take a few leaps towards middle ground, and that's about the truth of the matter.
You just don't like him because he's got squinty eyes, ADMIT MAN, STOP HIDING.

You think David Jones has been a good player this year?
He is awful. There is nothing to like about him or his play this year (and judging from Avs fans his play most of the time there.)

How many NHLers demoted to the AHL terminated their contract for pride?
Sykora was the only one I can think of and that was so he could negotiate a cap friendlier deal with a playoff team as he planned to retire soon.
Souray and Redden took their lumps and took the money rather than play in the NHL.
I know some European players do it, but thats because they want to go home and/or have a richer contract waiting for them in Europe.

You either don't know what "awful" means, or you're one of those people who uses the line "it was like, the WORST thing ever!" daily.

I used to love Tangs. In fact, I have a Tangs jersey.
But, you can't really argue that Tangs would be better on this Flames team than D. Jones. Tangs didn't want to be here during the rebuild. At least Jones seems like a good locker room guy who tries on the ice. He's not nearly as good as Tangs, but we need what he brings more than we need what Tangs brings.

David Jones has indeed been awful, all season. Tanguay is a giant suck but I agree with moon that I'd rather have him out there. David Jones is not a player I would ever want to pay to watch.
