It could conceivably be different posters or something, but I swear this is one of the first times I've seen Dubnyk complimented for his skill in anyway.
This seriously looks like a vomit-worthy trade though, agreed that they just picked up an aging guy who's never produced that much. I'm not that familiar with his intangibles to leave some room for doubt, but... god...
You all know it already, it's a fataing mess.

I think most would agree that Dubnyk is a half-decent goalie. Not worth his pay or a full-time gig, but could be a decent 1b in a tandem or a good backup for a proven starter.
Also you never really know what a goalie is capable of until they leave Edmonton.

Dubnyk suffered from his confidence being absolutely shot to #### playing behind a team that thought the ice ended at their blue line and everything past that point was an NHL designated resting area.
There was something on an Oiler's blog near the start of the season, when everyone was scape goating Dubnyk nice and early, about the quality of chances he was facing and that he was the only reason every game wasn't a blow out.
Guy is getting blamed for all the issues when he wasn't even the start of the problem, just another symptom. It's like blaming your liver for failing as you drink a 60 oz of Vodka a day.

If it improves their bottom two lines, which suck bad as is... why not?

I think there's a consensus that he hasn't been THE problem in Edmonton and that he's a scapegoat. I don't think anybody here believes he's fantastic, but he's okay. Posting a GAA between 2.57 and 2.71 as well as a save percentage between .914% and .921% over three consecutive years isn't bad, especially when your team constantly is in the bottom of the league.

Still don't get why they haven't targeted a defenseman yet but whatever. It makes me laugh.

The Oilers clearly do not believe in defense. They instead believe that defenseman are the two offensive players that join the attack from behind.
If you're getting scored on too much clearly it is always goaltending.

I've always liked Dubynk. I think he can be an everyday NHLer.

Has a single Oiler fan posted yet?
You know it's bad when...
I would have loved Dubynk here. I think he's got starter material. His numbers were respectful playing for a bunch of junior level players.

I know CP does not want Edmonton to win but my hope is Scrivens comes in plays great and launches them to a bottom 9-10 finish. Then Scrivens bolts as a UFA leaving Edmonton with a very high priced 4th liner for 4 more years.

While i don't think Dubnyk is a great goalie, i do think he can be a capable back-up. If the going rate for a back-up goalie is taking on high priced 4th liners, then there is no way Burke is going to trade Berra or MacDonald away unless he gets one hell of a deal on a pure starter.

I'm told Hendricks turned down more money from EDM in offseason but chose Nash for better fit.

Is Hendricks much of an upgrade on Mike Brown, who the Oilers traded to SJ earlier in the season?

Ouch, could have made more money to end up in the same hell hole? Brutal.
