MM is great in this show. The first movie I saw him in was some stupid one with William H Gacy where they were looking for treasue in a desert or something, maybe like Sahara, or something like that. I dont watch romances, so probably didn't see him anything again until he was in Eastbound and Down, and he's pretty good in that also.

Another interesting thing is MM and WH are executive producers on this show, so they're doing more than just acting.

I always like shows that are in around Louisiana, Someplace I've always wanted to visit and the filming and scenery in this show is great, including Alexandra Daddario's tits.

Great show! I find myself watching movies less and less. The quality of TV has gone up so much in the last 10 years that I only watch a movie if I'm caught up on my list of shows. That episode last night was better than any movie I've watched in a long time.

There is so much crap on TV these days - probably 95% of it. However, there is lots and lots of really good stuff like this program that can be found amidst all the crap (such as reality shows). True Detectives is one of the best shows I've ever seen. The two lead actors are brilliant. I'm starting to like these short-run series, where the plot is wrapped up within 10 episodes. Another was Broadchurch.

Let me clarify. When I mean good TV I agree that a lot isn't worth watching. I'm referring to True Detective, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, etc. The characters can be developed so much more than in a movie.

The thing I loved about the filming of the shootout scene wasn't just that it was a one-shot, but that it didn't use the shaky-cam technique so many similar scenes use these days.

Outstanding. This show is going to own the Emmys. Absolutely hooked on yet another television show with fantastic quality.

Wow, that was incredible. They were able to accomplish in an hour long episode what other great crime movies like Heat, Collateral, or Narc (a hidden gem) took hours to accomplish. It really does remind of the best of Michael Mann though, especially the way it's shot. Only four episodes to go, and they still have a ton to fill in, including why these detectives believe Cohle is involved somehow.

My only query is on the case itself though, and would they involve a whole team of homicide investigators to solve it. Really all they know for sure is this guy killed one, maybe two prostitutes, but haven't confirmed that he's involved in anything else (expect perhaps the disappearance of that child). So while I assume the investigation itself mirrors what you'd find in real life, would that much attention be taken for this type of case?

Oh and I loved Cohle's throwaway line about their needing to be a better system for the evidence room if he can switch out flour with cocaine that easily. Great stuff.

Sorry I read that first post too quick. I'll have to keep a look out for Broadchurch. I haven't seen that one.

Unbelievable episode. This show just gets better and better. Rusty returning to his narco roots was great and the final scene was amazing. Looked like a real life mission in GTA hahahaha

The final scene was so goddamn epic. Almost felt like a video game.

EDIT: ^^^ "Real life GTA mission." That's exactly what it felt like.

It's absolutely worth that praise. The only show that I've seen best it is Breaking Bad, but I've NEVER seen a 6 minute long shot used in television before.

Direction wise, it was incredible.
