Analysis so far:

1) Oilers had a bad 5 minute stretch but other than that, played a hard game
2) Oilers need some goaltending. Can't expect to win with sub-par goaltending holding them back

^ Actual radio analysis of this game. Did they watch the same one we did?

The Oilers are going to have another TV show on Sportsnet. This year it is call "Oil Spill or how the Edmonton Oilers became the Exxon-Valdez".

Plus, the win moves the Caps ahead of the Oilers in the standing, so they also improved their draft position, which has to be a big deal for them.

I don't think Dubynk is that bad. he's better than a lot of starting goalies in the NHL. Look at his stats last year. Kind of a miracle the Oilers weren't in last place, but he was the only reason they weren't.

He hasn't had a strong start but I would still take him over any one of our goalies.

The Oilers IMO are a mess defensively because of the lack of 2 way forwards and NHL capable defensemen.

Also good to see Ryan no shoulder Hopkins is still terrible in how own end. Embarrassing really. Maybe they need to stop picking on the Russian and bench him because outside of one good game he has been absolutely horrid.

When you've anointed a last place team as a dynasty, you can't possibly blame the dynasty, it must be the goaltending.

I mean, it couldn't possibly be the players? Right? They are all all-stars, future art ross winners. Can't possibly be their fault.

Nope, it's the coach and the goalie.

Worst part is that the media continue to give the oilers as a pass as a "young, rebuilding team that's still learning." The flames were given even more of that treatment this year by the media but they aren't using that as a crutch... Instead they're proving people wrong.

Watching this oiler team, it doesn't seen like a slump to me... It seems like this team hasn't gotten any better than previous years: they seen to be getting worse.

Hopkins now leads the entire lead and sits by himself at 623rd out of 623 players with a -9.

The coaching carousel and previous coaching choices certainly have helped in their ineptitude.

If Biron is not an Oiler in the morning I'll be shocked.

Eakins needs an exorcist for this team before he can do anything with them.

I don't know guys, I just get the feeling that they are 'Right on the Cusp'.

Hall, Nuge, Schultz and Hemsky are leading the oilers.

Schultz -6
Hall -7
Hemsky -8
Nuge -9

Here's the rub: Hall is nearly a point a game, Nuge is nearly a point a game, Schultz is nearly a point a game. Points mean sweet Fata All when Mark Arcobello (WHO!?) is a +4, leading your team as a 5'8 rookie.

How is Mark Arcobello on the ice for 12 less goals than Hall in SIX GAMES?

Wow, Suter and Brodin with 28 and 26 minutes of ice respectively. Do they ever chew up time.
