Likely going to be a tough year, but I am just glad that Flames hockey is back.

Hopefully the Baertschi/Monahan/Jones line plays well.

Unfortunately, I don't see this game going well. The Capitals lost on Tuesday and its their home opener.

5-1 Capitals.

Go Flames Go!

Can someone run a NHL 14 sim of the game to let me know if I should watch it or just catch the highlights?

Do you recall the original slap shot movie when the team decided to not fight or goon it up for the final game. The goalie came back between periods convulsing? This is going to be Ramo!

Ramo will stand tall, this game and for the season but we need the defense in Abbotsford to learn quickly. Our current defense is not very good right now.

Does Hartley last the year? I doubt it.
I think Hartley is here as long as Feaster is.

I don't understand this team's obsession with hiring friends and family into prominent positions.

Fata, not sure if I can catch the game now and no cable/PVR. Does the free preview or centre-ice include the on-line version or is it just the cable TV feed? Hope to catch the rerun if it does.

With Hartley I don't really give a rat's fart what happened last year. He came into a tough situation with the old guard still there but knowing they were on their way out. This is his team now and I hope he puts his stamp on it. Even this year is a transition as at least 5 guys will be on their way out before the season ends. I just hope he rewards guys that are playing hard/well with ice time and PP. Make everyone earn their ice time.

Well, nobody has asked him the question so I don't think he has publically voiced what he thought about the morning skate.

Not Impressed. I guess he was only skating in one third of the rink.

Every team in the NHL has optional practices...don't forget the schedule last year too they played what an average of 1 game every 2 nights.

everything is overblown in this day and age

I think the perceived weakness of our defence is way over-blown around these parts. 3 of our top 4 D-men are top 4 defencemen on any team in the league. From what I saw of Russell in the preseason, he also hasn't looked that bad in the top 4. Plus he's fairly young at 26, so he has room to learn the NHL game and improve. Our bottom 2 are just that, bottom two guys. They won't be out tonight against Ovechkin. I think defence is the least of our worries this season to be quite honest.
