I can't imagine why. Berra is better off as the starter in Abbotsford than he is the backup in Calgary.

Besides, you're deluding yourself if you thought MacDonald was ever going to be anything but the backup here, or in a full platoon situation with Ramo.

Liles has a NTC though. Maybe a planned waiver claim is the Leafs way of getting around this.

So the Flames are okay with backdooring a veteran NHLer who does not want to play in Calgary (assuming his NTC is an issue)? Seems like a great way for the organization to get on the player's good side and not have bitter feelings between them for the next 3 years.

The Flames have been saying they want players who want to be in Calgary. If Liles is using a NTC to block a move to Calgary, then let him play with the Marlies

Damian Cristodero ‏@LightningTimes 9m Yzerman on waiver wire: "There are a couple of names we're interested in" but putting in a claim depends on "is he better than what we have"

edit: nvm time for a nap

I don't know if the Flames would claim him but the cap savings are only $900 000 for the Leafs. I'm sure they want Liles to be claimed (or at least for him to realize that he needs to be open to being traded to any team).

Could see the Red Wings being interested in Derek Smith.

When do they have to decide on the Goalies since the deadline is tomorrow? I wonder what they are waiting for.

Ramo and Berra can both be sent down without needing to clear waivers, so either one can be sent down at 4:59pm ET tomorrow before the Flames submit their 23 man roster at 5:00.

At this point, I'd say it's a safe bet that Ramo will be the starter and MacDonald the backup (he knows he's staying in Calgary because he wasn't put on waivers), and Berra will start in Abbotsford.

They're probably waiting so that Berra can have one more practice with the Flames tomorrow morning.

Where in my post could you possibly come up with anything regarding me deluding myself about Macdonald starting ? Seriously. I don't want Macdonald on the team. Thought that was made pretty clear.

Cue the lulz if he gets sent down and Feaster is wrong. Not that he'll get sent down.

Also, because he was in the KHL for the last four seasons, they don't count as years of service because there isn't a valid transfer agreement between the NHL and KHL and he was considered a defected player.

So, as far as the NHL is concerned, he has 48 games played over 3 seasons. This means he can play up to 32 games this season before he must start passing through waivers.

Jones and Smith I can stand to lose. But after seeing the heart that Street put forward during the pre-season, it'd be hard to see him get snapped up and bite us later. He seems like the type that fits in for the rebuild... or at least until 3-4 years down the road when he can step aside for the younger, better talent to take his place.

Noticed that Sieloff is off of the Flames team roster and on the prospects roster. Does that imply that he was sent to Abbotsford? I think that they wouldn't send him back to Junior, although he is not listed on the Heat roster yet. Anyone know anything?

earlier today Berra was off and now is back on, so I wouldn't read into it.
