The only thing about the FOB track is that there are perhaps too many lyrics in the chorus, and they're not the chant kind of lyrics. And the little "I'm on fireee!" part is a little goofy (although catchy). It would make a far better intro song, but imo nothing can dethrone Spitfire as it serves its purpose perfectly.
What if its out of the fans hands and each player picks their own goal song.
Sort of like how MLB players pick the song they walk up to the plate to?
I would foresee a lot of confusion for the guy handling the music. With MLB, it's predictable. With players scoring, all the deflections, rebounds, and tipping can make it really confusing. Customization in the NHL has been limited to one or two players per team (for example, Iginla had custom music when he scored).
This is just it. The reason Chelsea Dagger works is because of the chanting/singing. If fans were yelling along with Sleep Now in the fire, and at the same time telling the other team to burn in hell, its basically a no brainer.
You don't get the kind of atmosphere from Fall Out Boy!
If I had to pick a second choice it would include Welcome to the Terrordome in some form, but we're talking distant second here.
This is why I like Clutch's Electric Worry. Imagine 20,000 people screaming "BANG BANG BANG BANG" after every goal.

Not to go too off-topic, but the players do pick the warm-up music. I read that a while back on the Flames website. I thought it was neat.

Who picks "Wild Thing"?

Sleep Now in the Fire has too much "dead" space ... it it was all like the Chorus it would be fine. But there is a lot of mellower sections.
Thats why you just splice and loop the sections that work. No matter what song you choose you'll likely have to do a bit of editing to make it a true "goal song".
