Wow, what an 8 weeks, i did not get to the full ten but I really kicked ass and lost a total of 62 pounds in that time, not to mention the added muscle mass.

Now is the at home champion part for me, will be needing to lose about 1 to 1.5 kilo per week to have the championship locked down.

Now to catch up on 2 months of news, sports, etc!!

Here's your Flames news wrap up...

Monahan is a stud! Berra shows promise. Whole team seems to have been given a heart transplant, very encouraging signs and fun games.

Oh, and the Oil are still pathetic. Like, ridiculously bad.

Eh? As someone who has never watched a single episode of BL, what is this "at home champion" part?

Congrats on the maintaining muscle mass… losing weight is tough. Gaining muscle mass is tough. Doing both simultaneously is tough x 3.

The 9 contestants who get sent home have a chance at the at home winner, not sure yet what the prize is, honestly for me it doesn't matter since this is about my health.

Our trainers were awesome, they stood up against suggestions to do some more radical things that the US shows do in order to beef up the weight loss numbers. It was fully about working on understanding what food does to you, how each of us needed to basically detox and go on the paleo diet for 30 days and then start testing what we could add like dairy and the like to see how our body reacts.

I was very impressed with the focus by the crew and the trainers to keep preaching on the show about how big fluctuating numbers is not healthy, steady good diet and exercise (albeit ours was extreme) is the way to go.

Ironically it was my muscle gain this week that was likely my undoing, but no regrets, I have not felt this good in a long long time.

Well exactly. The muscle gain may have pooched your weight loss numbers, but as you know it's the best for burning fat in the future and being healthier overall. So good on ya! It should get easier from here on in if you have that advantage.

What was the most fun you had in a challenge? What was it like having a camera crew follow you around everywhere through your experience? Do they have cameras on you the whole time?
Seriously though, congratulations. What you've done for yourself is so hard but so worth it. Great job!

Wow 64lb in 8 weeks?? Congrats, especially if you are lifting and actually adding lean mass during that. . I went from 245 to 205 over about 10 months lifting every day and cardio at least 5 miles 3x-4x a week. They make you sign a contract where you don't disclose your nutrition schedule? Haha

Good job man, that must have been quite a grind to lose that much. We're all proud of you.

Keep it up.

You can even take what you learned and apply it to... lets say... the tele-tubbies on a internet forum that you participate at regularly!

Well the nutrition was very simple, basically just Paleo diet, we had to follow this book which one of our trainers is friends with and is a big fan of the book.

http://www.whole9life.com/itstartswithfood/

I'll say the biggest surprise for me diet wise was how easy it was to eat minus the dairy, grains, and especially added sugars. I can't get over how much better I feel dropping grains and especially added sugars, considering how much of it exists in stuff you wouldn't think it would contain like in chicken breasts, spices and all kinds of off the shelf products.

The exercise program was pretty brutal, we went at 6am, 10am, 1pm (trainers, the stuff you see on tv) and then again at 5 or 6 pm.

You pretty much did nothing but exercise, eat, recover/nap, and sleep. We had weekends to ourselves, only 3 exercise times on Saturday and Sunday we used to recover, maybe just walk or something light.

I still can't get over how fast the weight went off, it will obviously slow down a lot now since I'm at home and working again, but I should be able to keep at least 1kg (2.2 pounds) a week pace if I stick to my new regime which will be crossfit 3 times a week, added with reebok fitness for weight lifting and eventually yoga and some other stuff.

I can't tell you how awesome crossfit is, its truly mind blowing how hard and rewarding it is, cannot recommend it enough.
