Wow... Very interesting. It wasn't his fault Daredevil wasn't all that good, but he wasn't special or anything either. Going to wait for further confirmation though, as there are a ton of rumors out there right now.

Maybe they should fire Snyder and hire Affleck to direct instead?

He's a good director and a decent actor in the right role but I'm not sold on him as Batman.

Funny thing is, I could see him making a way better Superman than Batman.

This is worth it for the internet reaction and vitriol alone. I don't even care about the movie.

What is this, 2005?

Ben Affleck is not only a good director (as said above) he's friggin great. The dude is a talented film maker. As an actor he's a step below but he's still talented, he's come along way since his Gigli/Jennifer Lopez days. He was fantastic in Argo and The Town, hell he was even good in a smaller role in Mike Judge's Extract.

I think he'll do fine as Batman. This won't be an origin story, he'll have to bulk up and be a bad ass.

Isn't it mostly that he's sober now?

I love it. Affleck will of course be playing an older, more established Bruce Wayne & Batman than we saw in the last trilogy (I imagine Affleck will be playing a Bruce that we never saw in Nolan's trilogy - mainly due to the leap between Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises)

I'm going to file this one under "I hope they know what they are doing"

He's got the experience, the acting chops, the build and the look.......but he's Ben Affleck. I also weirdly place a high importance on the voice. Affleck kinda has a whiney voice.

Also interesting that he would want to do it considering what trajectory his career is on. This is a big commitment.

My first reaction was "huh?!" But I'm intrigued to see what he can do with it.

Affleck is the right choice. He's a fantastic actor and I've thoroughly enjoyed almost all movies I've seen him in. I haven't watched jersey girl or daredevil keeping that in mind.

I remember 25 years ago, when people were in an uproar over Michael Keaton being cast as Batman. And that was before the internets. I think Affleck will be fine.

Besides, any actor who can pull off Girth Brooks can easily be Batman.

Which is precisely why a Hulk origin film should've been the easiest %)@(* movie to make ever. It's simple, guys: just make RLS's book into a movie and change the names. Sure, he has to fight someone at some point, but Joss Whedon had it right: the point of introducing the Hulk is making sure the audience gets that when Banner goes Hulk, it's a BAD thing. You do not WANT this to happen.

Yes, but when it's 'The Hulk' movie, the Hulk kinda has to be in it a fair bit.

From Adam Proteau of The Hockey News fame:

"@Proteautype: Ben Affleck is the new Batman. The character of Robin will be played by Canada and will speak one line of meaningless dialogue."

Wonder if the nipples are going back on the Batsuit.

I don't think he's the right choice.

My initial reaction:

But now that I think about it... I think he can pull this off. This will be a different Batman than we have seen before.. they are jumping right into a wiser more experienced Batman, almost a tutor for Superman.

He definitely has the look, will need to add the muscle. Bale wasn't even that great of a Batman, it wasn't until the third movie that I was really sold on him as the Bat. Afleck has come a long way and I will give him a legit shot before passing judgement. Now get Chris Pine as GL pleeeeaasseeee.
