I feel like the Flames could have matched that Dallas offer

If Seguin does, indeed, has a chronic injury problem and has become more of a perimeter player... I'd say Boston wins this trade. Eriksson is criminally underrated, and Morrow is a solid, solid piece going back the other way.

Liekwise.
I think a Glencross, Gadreau and another middle prospect would have been enough.
Glencross a bit older and a bit less offense but much cheaper.

I'm hearing a deal.
The first player is from a team that rhymes with Lost on. The second team is from a city when spelled backwards you can eat as a healthy meal.
Do other sports slowly reveal deals in silly pieces like this?
|
I like how they slowly get revealed in riddles.
A deal that will involve 7 pieces,
4 of which will be from one team,
3 of them prospects,
and at least 2 players will moving.
It's like reading Nostradamus quatrain.

I'm expecting PITT to swoop in and grab Eriksson and leave Chiarelli holding his junk in a press conference.

Big time cap savings, solid two-way winger to play with Bergeron and some prospects for the future in a thinner system (now that Hamilton, Krug and Bartkowski all seem ready to graduate).
They are in win now mode, as they should be.
Good trade I think.

This Eriksson is underrated stuff is overrated. His point totals were down last year. Will he rebound... perhaps, but I'd be worried about it if I were Boston.

How many teams will Joe Morrow be traded to before playing a game?

I don't think Backlund+Glencross+Gaudreau is worse value than what Boston received here...

Calgary could offer a similar package. Cammi at half price or GlenX are equal to or greater than Louie.

Value when taking cap hit into consideration? Maybe. If you put both of them together.
But when you look at Eriksson again; 27 years old, typically gets 60 to 70 points and almost 30 goals, 6'2"...tell me again how paying him 4.25M is an issue at all?

Hmm wonder if Glencross, Gaudreau, Backlund, Hanowski would have gotten it done. Seems pretty close.

Granted I have no idea about Seguin's attitude behind closed doors, but I really think Boston will rue the day they made this trade.
A 21 year old 1st line centre is not something you give up on this early.

It is. Change Gaudreau to Sven, + a pick and then it'd be a solid offer for him. Didn't want him anyways, bad hips.

Probably could have sealed the deal for Cammy, Gaudreau and Wotherspoon

Could have, but it is probably moot since Glencross would most likely not waive his NTC.
