I have never made a "pube sandwich" bet on CP, but i am extremely confident that i can make that bet with Kanzig being the next Chara.

Aaron Vickers @VickersFC 2m
Chatted with #Flames pick Keegan Kanzig. Said he didn't hear his name called on TV. The 6'7, 241-pounder was fixing a snack! #NHLDraft
Even he got up to get a snack, not expecting to get picked haha.

I'm going off other drafting agencies who had him in the #130 mark. 50 or so picks ahead of what he was ranked. There were dozens of better players available unless they were purposefully trying to fulfill a need. You can't get mad when a large majority of scouting agencies have him no where close to the third round.

Gotta agree with Redjohn, he is a very large man who is very bad at the sport of hockey. Only thing he does OK is fight, and he's not a great fighter, he mostly wins because he's so big.
Upside is if he continues to progress, couple years in the A and he can maybe play enough to skate a couple of shifts between fights. He is a real real bad player... I'd change the description of him from pylon to... Large angry pylon.

I'm disappointed that the flames decided to pass up on Baptiste for this guy, but lets see how he pans out. Thing I'm wondering about is that if this guy was, lets say #35 on Feasters list, do the flames scouting staff not wonder where this player is most likely to be picked and if they can afford the risk of picking him up in a later round? I can deal with the flames picking him, just can't grasp picking him so high up when he was projected to be much much lower, if picked at all.

However they did rank him as the #1 toughest player in the draft. On the other side they have him ranked as the 2nd worst skater in the draft.
"1. Keegan Kanzig — If you’re anywhere near his vicinity when he snaps, you’re in mortal danger. Try to avoid making eye contact. Was a 17 year-old just destroying the toughest 19 year-olds in the Dub."
From ISS, ranked 74th:
"An absolute monster on the backend, Kanzig is a physically intimidating player who has really learned how to use his natural physical gifts to his advantage. He is no stranger to the rough stuff and is always happy to impose his physical will on opponents. He is a decent skater for his size, controls the net front area well, but make no mistake, his appeal is all about physicality and intimidation. He has a big shot but very rarely is able to get it off and is not the type of player you want handling the puck for too long. He has decent defensive instincts and is a nice weapon to have at your disposal when the game turns nasty."

Not the worst scouting report I guess, and a big "Bahahahaha!!" at the part in bold. LOL

Seems like the Flames like the guys who progress throughout their draft year. This guy jumped 82 spots on central scouting rankings from the mid-season to the final rankings.

This. Watched every fight from this year. Did not lose one. Some draws, but no losses. But, can he play?

right now, this thread about a "bad hockey player" has more posts than the one about Sean Monahan and about twice as many posts as the one about Morgan Klimchuk.
Well done CP.

Haven't there already been a million threads discussing Monahan prior to the Flames drafting him? So I'm pretty sure everyone knows who he is, what to expect from him, and why he was taken. Can't really say the same for off the board picks like Kanzig and Poirier so it makes sense why there's more discussion on those selections.

I love how Blazers and Rockets fans are ripping on him sucking. Maybe it's a good thing we have a guy who gets under rivals skins.
Guys, the kid is 17. He made huge strides from his first year with the Royals to his second year. Hopefully he'll be even better in the coming season.

No whining in the Monahan thread, that's why.
