Baertschi should definitely not be untouchable but no way the Bruins make that deal unless the plus is the 6th pick.

The Seguin deal will never happen, not for the Flames (who wouldn't have the assets that Boston wants), or for anyone else (who wouldn't be foolhardy enough to pay the asking). Does Chiarelli think that no one watched Boston's run this year? Seguin was brutal, totally invisible. I think the legitimate market would be a mid 1st round pick, and possibly a top 6 forward or d-man. But a top 3 pick plus more? No way.
As for Horton, as soon as a guy says the move isn't for financial reasons, you know it is. I question the character of a guy who wants to hit the market before he even hears an offer from his existing team, especially when that team has been to the finals twice in 3 years, and won it all once.
If you're the Flames, trying to rebuild, is that the kind of guy you want in your room? Money first, team second. No thanks.

NTCs don't activate until the player would normally be UFA eligible, which is either after 7 seasons played or the age of 27. Because Seguin started in the NHL at 18, he would qualify after 7 seasons played, so his NTC comes into effect on July 1, 2017.
If he gets traded before then, the acquiring team can choose to remove the NTC off the contract entirely.

This is one of those players that you target, and dangle Gaudreau for. Boston has a chubby for this kid... let's violently exploit them for all they're worth.

Yup, and possibly better offers than my suggestion but I thought it might be doable.

Sven, Tyler and Nichuskin first line? Hmmm....
If you can get Tyler without giving up 6, Sven or Brodie then I think yo make the deal.

I would much rather the Flames try to move up and get Barkov rather than trade for Seguin. Would likely cost less and IMO Barkov has as good or better chance of becoming a franchise center as Seguin.
Not to mention he is younger and we'd get him on his ELC for the first 3 years.

I noticed consistently in the Stanley Cup Final, he just couldn't bury his chances. It looked to me that he was consistently working his bag off and setting guys up for great chances.

TSN speculating the asking price is a 1st, a prospect and a young player +
#6, Gaudreau and Backlund?
for Edmonton, maybe #7, Lander and Gagner?

Then you better come up with some incriminating pictures of Cam Neely & Peter Chiarelli because I don't currently see the Flames having the assets to acquire Seguin otherwise.

Could see Tampa dealing for Seguin.
If you have Seguin, Stamkos, Hedman signed for some time, that's a pretty good starting point for a core going forward....Giving up Drouin might be ok for that exchange for them.

I am not huge on dealing the 6 for Seguin. I would move 22, Johnny, Glencross for him but that is close to the limit where I hope the flames go. I would probably include 28 as well but really want Monahan/Lindholm and do not want to give up that prospect + Johnny +. Seguin is a hell of a player shocking that Boston would shop him

At most I would give up the two late 1st rounders and top 6 player on the team. Avoid giving up a prospect since Flames are bare on them. Want to build on stockpile rather than keep it low.

I'd go Gaudreau, Giordano, + #22 for Seguin + a 2nd rounder.

Would love to see Giordano as part of a trade for Seguin.

Gio to boston makes all sorts of sense.
So does Glencross, but I think he's staying. Maybe a lifer.

Just read bits on the hf thread on this. A bruins fan asked for Glencross + 1st ( assume 6) I would like 22, Johnny instead of 6
I honestly think Johnny, 22, Glencross is a hell of a package and saves the B's $3M in cap space. Dump a bad contract on us too if you want Chirelli

I know right. Seguin is over 20 now, if he hasn't won the Conn Smythe yet there's no reason to think he'll get better. For all the Seguin supporters, name 1 player who hadn't peaked by 20.

They are about to tie up 14 million on Rask and Bergeron. Seems the need relief. Can ask anything, but doubt they will get anything like a top ten pick and two prospects for him.
