We can't give him credit for division champ here. It's the Southeast division, 3 of the teams finished 15th, 14th and 13th in the East. The Caps got to play 18 games against those teams, going 15-3. The only reason he is in the playoffs is because the Capitals played in that division, he doesn't get brownie points for the division win as well.

It might be true that he took his team to winning the Div - but he also took them to 14th...they didn't find themselves in 14th by coincidence - which is something an MVP doesn't do.

People who quote the actual definition of the Hart Trophy as a reason why Crosby shouldn't win are giving the writers too much credit.
