You really don't see a difference between those two scenarios?

Let me help you with that... this is a CALGARY FLAMES message board.

When fans of other teams come in only when their team wins, it is painfully obvious and annoying to everyone here. When a few Flames fans dont show up because the team lost... who cares.

The Islanders fell short to get 5th place but they did hang on and get a point in the 2-1 SO loss. The other SO had the Avs winning 5-4 over Phoenix in the who cares game. The biggest surprise had the Oilers pounding the Wild 6-1. The Wild's coach must be stunned seeing his players play like that, it was total horse . I mean WTH happened, biggest game of the season and they lose to the Oilers like that. The blame is all on the players, no doubt about that. It was pathetic. I hope Coach Mike Yeo had a big screen monitor in the dressing with the internet, went to youtube and played this over and over like 25 times.

Lost in the results last night are Colorado winning.

That's good to drive another nail in the Coyotes coffin. Screw you Morris and Doan.

Also means that if Florida beats Tampa, and Colorado beats Minnesota, Colorado passes Tampa at the bottom of the standings. Since a Tampa win or loss doesn't matter to Flames fans at this point, Colorado leapfrogging means a team in our division conference next year, has that much less of a chance to win the draft lottery (though they still may pick 3rd) for whatever that is worth.

Plus, was going to be flat out cheering, now that the Flames are done I can, for Colorado anyways. Hope Colorado and Columbus (with an OTL) can punt Parise and Suter and the $100m they each make, to the golf course. A side benefit of that should also be that it throws another conference team into disarry going into the offseason.

So:
CAR gets a point vs Pit
FLA beat TB
NSH beat CLB (in OT or S/O)
COL beat MIN

Means Colorado leapfrogs Tampa to be a spot ahead of us. Carolina and Nashville also leapfrog us.
CLB gets in the playoffs with the single point.
Minnesota fails to get in the playoffs with a monumental choke job in the last week.

FLA
TB
COL
CGY

then would be the order headed into the lottery.
