To piggy-back on what Hockeyguy15 everybody else said... if something like this goes off I have to think everybody gets a little more vigilant and starts taking a careful look around. Not strange in the slightest.

Not strange at all. They are going to swarm the area with officers and look at anything at all suspicious. In all likelihood bombs like this aren't well hidden as they don't have the power to be effective if they are.

I guess, ya. Did they mention where they found additonal bombs? If it's in the same building, they have balls for running into a structure that's could be badly compromised. If it was different buildings, I'd be very curious to see how close they are to the blast sight.

I believe at least one was in a different hotel. The initial reports I've seen characterize these as homemade type bombs, so likely more about inflicting damage to people than to the structures.

Yes, anti-government political groups in the United States are likely to end up the real victims in all of this.

Fata me, you are truly deluded. Its sad.

So cliche to say 'the world gets so small when something like this happens' but just the amount of people here at this board who have a connection to this today, kind of hammers that home.

My friends were following a runner from Tucson (yellow shirt). This is the turn 1/2 mile before finish. They are ok - left 20 mins before the blasts.

See, this is the part I find odd. A bomb goes off and within minutes, at different locations, they start to find other bombs. Why did they start looking at other locations? Did they have some signifacance to the race?

As noted, it is SOP. They likely swept every building front up that road.

News just showed the second explosion. It appears to be quite a way down the block from where the first one went off - the area most being seen on all the news channels right now.

Explosives were placed in trash cans according to multiple sources. Photo of potential suspect from video also possible according to reports.

This is disgusting. The running world is a tight knit community. The Boston Marathon is truly one of the most spectacular athletic events in the world and the camaraderie of the runners, spectators, and volunteers is truly an event in itself. I am really sickened by this.
