this is like death. I was at the dome last night and even though the game was exciting back and forth. A couple fights no complaints about the game but all the same i really didn't want to be there.
My wife had tears in the second period for real.

Wednesday March 27, 2013 the day known as "Good Wednesday" and Saturday Iggy will rise again vs The Islanders. Iggy will rise again and reach new heights. A death for Flames Fans and a resurrection for Penguin fans. Good luck Iggy and Happy Easter. Some want Feaster to go to H....
It's been years since I've frequented CP, but had to come on here to see this thread.
I'm so happy to have grown up with such an iconic, standup guy as the face of my favourite team.
Would love to see a clip of the Iginla vs. Ballard fight from 2005/06 but with the sportsnet (or TSN) feed rather than the US feed. The announcers were hysterical with something like:
"oh no, young man. I wouldn't do that. I'd leave him alone if I were you." just before Iginla destroyed the poor guy.
That and the "don't tug on superman's cape" were two comments that showcased Jarome's compete level, for me.
I remember when I was a kid, it was Iggy's rookie season. I was at Japanese Village with my family, and sitting beside Sandy McCarthy and his family. I was excited as hell that even Sandy McCarthy was sitting beside us, and then as I worked up the courage to even say hi to him, a whole bunch of the team walked into the restaurant, past us, and all said hi to Sandy. I don't remember all of them, but there was Housley, Fleury, and of course Iggy. My dad is good friends with the owner of Japanese Village, so the owner brought me over to meet the guys.
One of the highlights of my life, as even though I remember shaking everybody's hand, I vividly remember my experience with Jarome. He was the one guy who was so excited, even as an 18-19 year old rookie, just to meet Flames fans. He asked me what my name was, who my favorite player was (I think I said Gary Roberts at the time), and how happy he was to meet me.
I instantly became a fan of Jarome that very night. I was 10 years old. I'm 28 years old now, and am still a huge fan of his. I'm seriously tearing up talking about this. As much as a fan I am of the Flames, I am equally as much a fan of Iginla. As a previous poster said, and I think this holds true.
Don't be sad we lost him. Be happy that we had him.
Good luck on your quest for the Cup, Jarome. I sincerely hope that you win it. You've always been one of my biggest idols, and any person, let alone athlete, should aspire to be as classy and great of a person as you have been and continue to be.

My best Iggy memory is him backing out of doing a shot with myself, a friend, and about 4-5 other Flames at Cowboys one night in March or so of 04 and having Donovan (who was hammered and had just attempted to pay for a round with a single crumpled $5 bill) tell me to tell Iggy to stop being a pu$$y and take the shot. I looked at him and said "you tell him to stop being a pu$$y, I'm sure as hell not". He eventually gave in, but it sure wasn't based on anything I said.
