Boy are some teams in the east absolutely terrible.
Buffalo, NYI, Florida, Washington, Winnipeg.
Add Columbus, and the Flames have zero chance at first overall.

We have no chance at any of the first 6.

With the draft lottery set up the new way, we have a shot at 1st overall just by missing the playoffs., however long the odds are.

Hey, how come Stoll didn't go sliding down the ice like a lunatic after scoring such a big goal with only 22 seconds left?

I love how Oiler fans need to include the Flames whenever they talk about how bad their team is like it makes them feel better about themselves.

Arrrrgh...Came home from work to find that the DVR of the 'Hawk game stopped recording after the 1st!
Oh, well, at least my guys got the points....
Veiwing the postings of the hit on Hossa...Either Hansen is a goon, or he is a moron that doesn't grasp the laws of matter...no way he was playing the puck, elbow first, with Hossa's head between him and the puck.
Agree that the Keith hit was A. Dirty and B. Retaliation for a dirty hit by Sedin...also posted here...ty Flame fans.

Not this season unfortunately, there was a report yesterday that the lottery won't actually change til next season. So in order to get first overall you'd still need to finish in the bottom 5 this year.

In response to my comment saying how bad the division is? Is it not a terrible division? I predicted 12th for the Oilers and I still think they will finish 12-13th. Too many holes.

Not true. As long as you miss the playoffs, you still have a shot at #1. Whoever wins the lottery picks #1 this year.

The only difference in this year's draft lottery will remain that the team that wins the lottery will be awarded the first overall pick. In previous years, winning the lottery only allowed a team to move up a maximum of four places in the draft order.
|
They were discussing changing the odds, decided not to this year, but are still going through with the "every team that misses the playoffs has a shot at #1" change.

At least you were able to see a wild 1st period that had 5 break aways. The hit on Hossa has put a bullseye on Hansen. The rematch is April 22 in Vancouver and it should be a doozy.

That article dsicusses changing the odds to make them more even, not about every non-playoff team having a shot at 1st

The Jets get the 2-1 road win in Buffalo. Miller won't be happy as his team can't score and the Sabres were booed off the ice. The Senators win 3-1 over the Islanders, Dipietro was in net for the Isles. Anderson faced 38 shots for the win. The Habs beat the Rangers 3-1 and Price was back in goal for Montreal. Coach Torterella wasn't happy with his team or the entire game as it was pretty dull. Rick Nash was out of the lineup. Tampa beat the Leafs 4-2 and gave Scrivens a dose of reality as he got pulled after letting in 4 goals on 13 shots. Pouliot had 3 assists. The Sharkies finally win, 2-1 in reg time over the Blues. It was a tight defensive game. The Predators defeat the Red Wings 4-3 in OT as Weber scores the winner. Pavel Datsyuk probably scored the goal of the season as he deked through 4 Nashville players. Jimmy Howard was injured on the 2nd Nashville goal, Gustavsson took over and played pretty well. As usual, Rinne was excellent for the Predators. The stupid Oilers found a way to blow it and they did in the last minute of the 3rd period and lose 3-1 to the Kings. I like what the Kings twittered, someone will get a hug for the best Yakupov goal impersonation. I have to say that the Bhawks are awesome and that Canucks-Bhawks was a terrific game. No doubts about that and it was nice to see the Canucks lose 4-3 in the SO.

Hansen is a chippy player and a really good third line player who gives some energy to the team. That was a stupid play and he should get a 1 game suspension - not because it was the most outrageous hit but because he has had a couple of headshots in the past as well as the history of Hossa (not to mention he is a star while Hansen is obviously not). I did think that Hossa sold it a bit by lying motionless on the ice for the better part of a minute although that is just speculation.
