Still can't believe we chose Brent Sutter over Dave Tippett.
I also remember in better days 5ish years ago people on here complaining that our constant 2-1 or 3-1 victories weren't exciting or entertaining enough...that's all you'd have with Tippett.
I get what you're saying, but Stajan has been Calgary's most consistent forward so it's hard to complain about him. That line looked good tonight and Stajan specifically looks like a re-invigorated player. Unfortunately he is still our best center and not our third line center which would be the ideal role for him.
Oh I completely agree. Stajan has looked 100x better this season. My only complaint of him is his constant whining after every whistle. It's embarrassing. Other than that, he's been awesome.
It would be interesting to see how much owners play a part in his decisions.
We already know. Feaster went from talking about substantial changes if the team doesn't turn it around in the next 2 games, to "the answers are in the room" in the space of 2-3 days.

Hartley just mentioned in the post game presser that some players for some reason took an option to take today's game off and he gave them a stern talking . He specifically said that Jackman's line was good and I don't think he can complain about Stemp's line. Horak's line was decent so I think he had a good talking with Iginla's line post game. Expect their next game to be MUCH better.
Hahahaha a "stern" talking is all it took? Jeez, Hartley is a genius.
Their best player is Vrbata and it isn't even close.
Honestly, they play so damn boring its really hard to pay attention. I just know that age isn't why the flames suck. It's talent. Even iginla in his prime took a lot of games off.

Ugggh Bipolar as ever here.
Yesterday: "great comeback, playoffs for sure".
Today: "we suck, trade everyone".
Little perspective, we were playing essentially our 4th string goalie, on the 2nd of back to back, without our best centerman, rookie, and #1 goalie. We are hovering around .500 and were predicted to finish anywhere from 8-10th by virtually everyone. If we can continue to tread water as we currently are, and start to string some winning streaks together once healthy, we could sneak into the playoffs. If we don't, we'll end up pretty much where predicted anyways, and we can probably look forward to some trades, the draft lottery/draft and the potential of Ramage, Gaudreau, Granlund etc. joining the team.
I'm just sick of "We're great, we suck" very 2nd night.

4-0 tonight. I'd taking winning and making the playoffs any day over the garbage hockey this years Flames have been playing.
Clearly when you score zero goals, goaltending is the real issue.
Do you know how emotionally draining it is to battle while you are tired only for your goalie to let in a weak goal? You need your goalie to make the easy saves and none of ours seem to do that

For two periods goaltending gave the Flames a chance and they did nothing with it.

Big friggen deal. So they'll play better for one game and go back to sucking the next. It is what they do now.
There are too many players on this team that are just happy collecting their big fat paycheques.

The age of the Flames best players had nothing to do with the loss. It is a concern for the near future because you would prefer your best players to be near or at their peak. And ours are regressing. But that isn't why we lost tonight. We lost because our best players didn't show any compete. You aren't going to beat the Coyotes when you aren't willing to work.
Given the importance of this game and our history of this crap this should be a serious red flag. But Feaster will probably keep applying bandaids instead of fixing the foundation.

The TEAM is bipolar, why should the forum be any different? Calgary showed some real guts coming back against Dallas, then they lay a big fat stinky egg. Fatigue is no excuse every team deals with it. Same goes for injuries and not getting god like goaltending.

last few years i have heard this over and over wash rinse repeat .

With average goaltending it was a 1-0 probably 2-0 with an empty net.
So would I, and argued that at the time. The only point was making was that this franchise had a team that played dull games but won them and it still didn't make people happy.
Confidence on an unconfident team comes from goaltending and Calgary had the second most stable goal to rely on in the league then last decade. With that stripped away, this team, though having OK forwards and a more up tempo style, won't be able to out gun every team like they did Dallas twice, Detroit, and basically Chicago.
