Nope they have to basically immobilize it for a month or so, then its very light work.

I had a friend of mine who had his ankle stepped on during a football game, it was a totally flukey pay, but his AT snapped and rolled half way up his leg. If there was anyone screaming to be knocked out from the pain it was him.

He was on crutches for a long long time, and then he walked with a noticeable limp for about 4 months where he went through as he described it the most painful rehab ever.

When he was finally allowed to walk it hurt for a long time and he couldn't run because as he stated his leg felt so tight that he thought it would snap.

Now this was about 10 years ago and I'm sure that the surgery and rehab are much better, but I wouldn't wish that kind of injury on anyone.

Well, except for maybe Cooke.

It's not that we are fans of him, it's defending him in a situation he should be defended in. Yes, he should of been out of the league a long time ago for his antics, but you can't seriously blame him for this.

He tried to get his legs between Karlsson's. His skate went down when they hit the boards, the momentum and him trying to regain his balance led to his skate getting caught up in Karlsson.

Kevlar socks, neckguards and visors should be mandatory I'd think. These guys are going around at highspeeds with knives on their feet, someone is going to get hurt like this again or worse. The Malarchuk incident is enough evidence of what can happen in this sport, not to mention what happened to Karlsson, Hall and many others.

I'm not a Cooke fan in the slightest, but if defending him this time makes me one, then so be it

Me neither. Achilles injuries heal. I'd wish a career ending injury.

Angry response from Eugene Melnyk:

I was talking about the people saying that he's a good player and that Cooke has changed. If he's changed at all, it's only because he worries about his financial future and not because he has respect for his fellow players all of a sudden.

Melnyk not happy with Cooke

Quote:
"To have him taken out by a goon is unconscionable," Melnyk began. "Whether it was accidental, or whether it was reckless, or whether it was intentional, to me it doesn't matter.

"It's something that never should have happened. This player should never be playing in this league. It's a league for elite players," said Melnyk.
Quote:
"I'm just shocked that that organization employs that type of individual. You've got some good people at the top there. C'mon, these guys are former players, they are elite players, they know what these guys can do. To do this kind of stuff, this guy should be, I don't know, to me it doesn't make any sense whatsoever, that's why I can't even reconcile the thing.

"Frankly if it comes down to everybody wants to play this game, we can play it just as well as anybody else, 'cause these guys are a dime a dozen and that's probably what they're worth per game. A dime. You can hear I'm not very pleased with the whole thing."
And this part:

Quote:
"We know we need to fill in one spot at least, but that would probably be through trading and I think we have some trading capability, and we certainly have cap space."
I wonder which team would be the best trading partner for them...

Can't believe I am standing up for Matt Cooke but Melnyk is an idiot.

Injuries happen, it was accident, get over it.

What does whining like a baby about Matt Cooke get you.

Melnyk is also being hypocritical, he has Chris Neil on his team and Matt Cooke is at least equal to him as a player in an elite players league.

Cooke has made a living at sidelining and destroying careers. I probably wouldn't wish it, but if it happened to him, I certainly wouldn't give a ####.
