Are they going to tell the Golf equipment companies that it's all over. No more new clubs?

This is the weakest argument of all. The game is nothing like what it was.
Uhhh...they have all sorts of limits and rules concerning clubs already...this is merely another one.

http://www.usga.org/Rule-Books/Rules...uipment-Rules/

as for the statement that the game is nothing like it was....that may have some truth to it, but i would suggest that the players themselves have way more to do with that than ANY advances in clubs and technology associated with them.

These guys today are athletes and act as such in the majority of cases. All the real top guys take extremely good care of themselves both with exercise and diet because if tey dont, they simply wont be able to compete long term. Its much like goaltenders in hockey over the years, back "then" (whenever that was ) guys in net were as often the guy that couldnt skate as well as others as he was any good at the position. Yet when they started taking the position seriously and scientifically, they all of a sudden became some of the more athletic guys on a team.

This is truly a very minor issue when it comes to the game itself, and more of an issue with guys that cant mentally get over a ball with a regulation sized putter and clear their heads to strike the ball correctly.

Tough for the few that use it, but absolutely within the guidelines of the USGA and their mandate as keepers and rule makers of the game.

Nice of the European tour head to help out Sergio, that should help:

Can you agree that the reason to anchor a putter is to steady a stroke that would be otherwise less steady than swinging the putter as a pendulum from ones hands?

If so, can you not realize that the governing bodies want the full pressure of a 10 foot putt to win a major championship to be in the hands, wrists, arms, and shoulders?

Can you not possibly gleam from this that the Major governing bodies of golf feel that having this pressure is the best way to determine the best golfer on that particular week? Golf is a mental game, and they want to provide the absolute best test of mental fortitude, particular on Major weeks.

For a long time, these guys have been complying with the rules, and no one begrudges them that, but now the rules are changing to better fit the criteria of having the mental fortitude of being able to calm their hands in a pressure situation. No stats, just LOGIC.

Graham Delaet holds second alone going into the weekend of the Crown Plaza Invitational. He is definitely the guy to watch when it comes to Canadian golf. Would be really nice to see him break out this year.

Delaet is in the lead now. Playing some really nice golf. Also, he just whipped out his little score card booklet and it had a big Flaming C on it. Nice to know he is a fan of the right team.

Daleat is clearly the best canadian golfer now that Weir and AMes are not really all the good anymore by PGA standards

Ames will tear up the senior tour in another 14 months or so.

De Leat can play, but also look out for Brad Fritsche. That guy can really get rolling when he gets hot. He has put up somoe good rounds this year but stumbles a bit in at least one round. It is the first time he has seen many of the courses, but it wouldnt surprise me if Fritsche wins one of the tournaments where the winning score is like -20

I wouldn't count out Fritsch just yet. He's shown resilience on the weekend that DeLaet hasn't thus far.

Jimrutledge with another strong sunday finish to tie for 6th at the Senior PGA. Rod Spittle, another Canadian was also T _6. Rutledge put in the best round of the tournament today.

I think spittle is the steadier player, but rutledge seems to always toss in a dud round in there.

I was going to mention him - early in the year Fritsch was holding his own on weekends while DeLaet and Hearn were pretty spotty.

Although I think it is great that we have at least 3 guys who appear to be on the verge of breaking through. Throw in Adam Hadwin (Canucks sponsorship aside) and it bodes very well for the next few years.

Yikes, WTF has happened to Rory McIlroy? His opening round 78 at the Memorial is the worst 1st round score in his PGA career.

Same thing happened when Tiger signed with Nike. People were saying how bad a move that was and how Tiger had to ditch Nike. It seems to have turned out alright.

Tiger, Rory, and Adam Scott paired together for the US Open.
