I personally think we're vastly improved.

People keep forgetting the most important off seaon transaction!

What gets me is analysts and other teams fans think the Flames overall team lacks current and future potential.

Star goalie - Check
Star veteran forward - Check
Potential star rookie forward who some say could challenge for calder- Solid depth, whether its secondary scoring or on D - Check

The only thing this team lacks is a true star #1D.

And a true top 6 center, and depth at center, and top level talent outside of Jarome, and solid depth on D after Bouwmeester and Giordano and secondary scoring.

You forgot actual top line centers.

is there some sort of correlation between pro-player during the CBA negotations and Flames pessimist now? seems to be that way. or is the only common link just enjoying playing devil's advocate?

I think it might just be a small sample size and the two biggest mouthpieces for the Players happen to be "Flames pessimists." I also don't think Eddy Beers is a Flames fan.

As someone who is constantly whined about as being Flames Pessimist I was a big, big supporter of the Owners during the Lockout.

You will see Bouwmeester as a true star #1D this year when Hartley lets him take slapshots and he doesn't have to babysit Butler anymore.

I take issue with your misplaced self-assurance and your insistence that the Oilers' brilliantly bright future is matched reciprocally by the Flames impending futility.

I think that photon's signature rather elegantly sums up my feelings about your posting history in general:

Well, I'll put my homer goggles on and say the Flames will finish 6th in the West. I think this lineup is better than last season and a shortened season will do wonders for this lineup.

Bouw does not take slap shots often because Bouw sucks at slapshots. It has nothing to do with who's the coach or his partner on D.

We have a new coach with a new system. According to that new system our 1st line will be with 2 LW and 1 RW. It will make the other team panick, their C doesn't know where he should be on ice in that situation. During that time we will attack with double force in the left side and score goals. Personally I'd like 3 LW's in the first line. But what I know about hockey

Bouwmeester has a slightly more intimidating slapshot then Jordan Leopold.

Huh, I have always thought you were a Canucks fan sitting in your basement with a Tony Tanti jersey.

Sure it does. He always had to cover Butler. If he takes a slapshot and it gets blocked it's a 2-on-1 the other way against Butler who is dead meat. Sutter always played it safe. He didn't even let Phaneuf take a slapshot during the Worlds.

He's got a good, low, deflectable slapshot. I think we'll see more of it this year.

Bouwmeester has a bad shot from the point if he's trying to score, but he has one of the better shots when it comes to shooting for deflections.

Is that based on all my pro-Vancouver talk on this board?
