Technically I should be doing both after every training session as I ski race, but I seem to get by with sharp enough edges if I sharpen and wax every 2-3 times I go out. It also depends on whether you have the gear yourself as I would be less inclined to sharpen my edges and wax if I had to go in and pay 30-50 bucks each time. The type of snow you're skiing on can affect it greatly too whether its manmade ice (will need to tune sooner) or the freshies from above (not as much).

I generally wax at least every 3 times out.

Edging - scrape your fingernail at a few points along the edge. If it can scrape nail you're still good.

I coach, so depending on what level you are racing at, you could get by with this. However, if you are looking to get the most out of your sessions, i would at least do a quick touch up on you edges after each session.
If you are the average person, getting out every other weekend, once every few sessions will likely get you by. Hard, artificial snow is hard on edges and bases, and you will lose the sharp edge after the first few runs, but can get by with what is left for a bit. If you have craters on your bases, fix asap, especially if they are near the edge, as you can blow out your edge and side wall if you nail the same spot again.
If you are keen, buy your own gear and do it yourself (pretty straight forward) and save yourself a bunch of $$

Yea its often the motivation I lack when I get home from training to even do a touch up but so far we haven't had any gate sessions yet so I've been all right so far. I actually race with the masters and have been for a while so If its race day or gates I'll do a full tune up, although after a monday night technical free ski session at COP not so much

I think 3 times out for the average skier should be about time to get their boards tuned up though.

Yes, you can hear them over wind noise. To the point that you won't hear anyone approaching you or anything happening around you. Uber handy when skiing in groups too when they're yelling at you to not take a run that's closed.

I prefer to just use a a pair of sport headphones and just use one ear, so I can still hear what else is going on, but I'm probably in the minority there.

IIRC skullcandy makes half the in-helmet systems, so sound quality is ok, considering the source and size of speaker.

The built in headphones tend to suck... they blow out easily or get wet and break, and are impossible to replace. I just use earbuds.

Giro and K2 used to sell replaceable earflaps/headphones. They don't anymore?

They do they're just hard to get ahold of. I.e. usually you have to mail order them, often they don't have any in Canada, or they change helmet models and yours are discontinued etc. Not worth the hassle, imo. When I need new skiing headphones I walk down the street to winners and pay 10 bucks.

I just like the idea of not having to fumble around with headphones cause I don't listen to music on the chair if I'm with people and having earbuds under a hat muffles conversations pretty good.

The only reason I'm considering it is the audio helmets look to be the same price as the regular helmets anyways so I'm thinking I might as well?

I also can't listen to music with one headphone in and one out. All or nothing.

Sunshine and Lake Louise both posted "Powder Alerts" on Facebook today, with more snow on the way.

Fyi, it's suppose to be pretty cold this weekend with the high still being in minus double digits.

Also....

What is it? What are you smiling about. Don't keep us in suspense.

Did you use a public link? Or is it the link to an account, so only you can see it?

Not exactly. I enjoy the park but I suck at it. Usually end up in the park for a bit at the end of the day. They're an all-mountain with park focus. Pretty much what I'm riding now as my regular ski (Head JO Pro).

I mostly just much prefer twin tips for goofing around on the mountain.
