Beautiful shot from Sieloff. His first goal at the end of the 2nd to put the Spits up 4-0

Nice to know he's chipping in offensively as well.

I should have a chance to see him in action when the Remparts come to Saint John in December. Quebec only comes to town once this season, which is kind of disappointing...the one time the Flames have a prospect in the Q and I only get to see them once!

the thought of Gaudreau actually winning the Hobey Baker as a Sophomore gives me goosebumps, that would be downright incredible.

It's been a while since a notable prospect has won the award.

it looks like their grades and "character" play a part in winning too. Makes the award less prestigious in my mind upon reading that.

but I think Geoffrion, Gilroy and Carle would have been considered notable prospects and they are 3 of the past 7 winners

That's true, but take a look at the ages of those players when they won the award.

Jack Connolly - 22 years old
Andy Miele - 22 years old
Blake Geoffrion - 21 years old
Matt Gilroy - 24 years old
Kevin Porter - 21 years old
Ryan Duncan - 21 years old

Of the notable players in the NHL now that have won the award, these were their ages at the time.

Matt Carle - 20 years old
Jordan Leopold - 21 years old
Ryan Miller - 20 years old
Chris Drury - 20 years old
Brendan Morrison - 21 years old
Paul Kariya - 17 years old

If Gaudreau were to be able to win the Hobey Baker Award at the age on 19 it would a absolutely huge accomplishment, and by the looks of things would bode well for his future.

It certainly would be great if he won it, all I'm saying is that it isn't the end all. If he's not even considered, it shouldn't dampen our opinions of him.

Superstar Justin Schultz didn't win it, and he was apparently the best defenceman playing in the NCAA.

Ryan Culkin is a +1 in a 2-1 win over Chicoutimi.

Gaudreau is ranked #4 in this "top 10 college forwards to watch" list:

http://www.uscho.com/2012/10/03/ten-...s-for-2012-13/

There always seems to be a big spot in the Boston College offense for the little guy, and 5-foot-8 left wing Gaudreau is the latest in a long and talented line.
Gaudreau, who is blessed with blazing speed and a deadly finishing touch, is coming off a sensational freshman season (21-23–44) in which he finished second (by one point to Chris Kreider) on BC’s national championship team in scoring.
With Kreider having moved on, Gaudreau, a fourth-round pick of the Calgary Flames, could well follow in his skates as the most dynamic forward in Hockey East.

5. DeBlouw
