Is Deuce Bigalow 2 really as crappy as it looks? Other then the black guy getting attacked by the cat, everything in the previews looked extremely stupid. And the only reason I chuckled at the cat part was because of the way the guy screamed.

Does anyone on here know anything about the Movie "Grizzly man"? I'm wondering if it's going to be shown in any of the theaters here in Calgary.

Old School 2
Quote:
"Old School" writers Todd Phillips and Scot Armstrong are getting ready for a reunion.
Variety reports DreamWorks has given the duo the go-ahead for "Old School 2," a follow-up to the hit 2003 comedy starring Will Ferrell, Vince Vaughn and Luke Wilson as middle-aged frat boys.
Phillips and Armstrong previously collaborated on the original "Old School" and last year's "Starsky & Hutch."
Casting for the planned sequel has yet to be announced.

More Ricky Gervais in Christopher Guest's new film..
Quote:
Comic star Ricky Gervais is to play a studio boss in a Hollywood film about the movie awards season, called For Your Consideration.
Gervais, who co-wrote and starred in TV comedies The Office and Extras, will play a man convinced his awful film is going to bag an honour.
Written and directed by Spinal Tap star Christopher Guest, the film will also feature American Pie's Eugene Levy.
Filming is due to get under way in October, Gervais' spokesman confirmed.

Steve Carell is making a deal to star for Universal in "Evan Almighty." He'll likely increase his $500,000 salary for "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" at least tenfold....
|
This one sounds a bit iffy, but apparently Steve Carell will repise his small role as Evan in a sequel to Bruce Almighty. Carrell's small role in it was hilarious and it was an alright movie. It sounds kind of silly, but Carell in the lead role could be hilarious. I'm a big Steve Carrell fan.
More on it here..

Carell will reprise his role as Evan, the anchorman, from BRUCE ALMIGHTY to fill in Jim Carrey's Bruce's shoes (boy that's a mouthful) in the follow-up EVAN ALMIGHTY.
Yeah... That's what I thought, too... But the story actually sounds kinda funny... This time God calls upon Carell (Not Bruce since Jim Carrey doesn't want to do it) to build an Ark in preparation for a huge flood. Animals and Carell. Ah what a lovely pairing... So, I saw BRUCE ALMIGHTY maybe twice... and the only thing I remember about Carell's character was that key scene where Bruce makes him jabber ridiculous shinguard on air. I have faith that if Carell is headlining this film, especially if he gets to interact with Morgan Freeman again as God (Freeman's in negotiations to return), that he'll add on to this character

Speaking of Ricky, there's a great interview with him reproduced on BBC's Extras' homepage.
One excerpt that should make many on this site happy:
"My other favourite shows are 'Arrested Development' and 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'. And, of course, the American 'Office' is great – I can say that because I'm not involved. That was a joy to watch when that came through the post. After episode one, they're all original and they've done an amazing job."

Good find Mike, thanks.
Anyone else a big Philip Seymour Hoffman fan?
His new movie "Capote" is due out in theatres soon, and it looks pretty darn good. Hopefully Hoffman and Jaquin Pheonix go head-to-head for the Best Actor Oscar this year.. anyways, Copote trailer for you all.

But they make fun of the Canadian image of being the friendliest tourists/backpackers. The only people ever starting trouble or passing on the street are Canadians. Well one guy had a Laffs jersey on so that could be true for him.

Well, to some of you this might be the coolest news ever, to other you will have no idea who I am talking about.
Christopher Guest has a new movie coming about, it appears to have a "mockumentry" even though he stated he was done with them (maybe this is his last) but starring in the movie will be non-other then Ricky Gervais.. the creator and star of the BBC smash The Office.
Christopher Guest, Eugene Levy, Fred Willard, Ricky Gervais..Screw your Will Ferrells, screw your Ben Stillers, this is one of the best comedic line ups ever.

Guest is a comedic genius, spinal tape, waiting for guffman, mighty wind, and best in show are all must see's when your looking for comedy thats out of the ordinary.[/b][/quote]
I find spinal tape works really well for keeping my vertibrae in line...
Seriously though, Christopher Guest is one of the most underrated filmmakers around...and Eugene Levy is pure gold...this should be good.

Awesome and funny movie is watched on the weekend was the newest Don McKellar movie Childstar. If you like the off-beat style of comedy it's pretty funny.
Oh and avoid Sahara.. what a terrible movie. That movie can't figure out what it's plot is for it's life.. am I saving the girl? Finding a lost ship? Stopping a major polluter? Stopping an evil warlord?
Holy crap it was bad. National Treasure is waaaayy better as a tresure hunter movie.

Sin City was amazing, but obviously not for everyone (50 year olds). :P We had a huge thread on it when it went to theatres and most loved it.

I love violent shows...and I think the "artsy" stuff like this was done years ago by Warren Beatty....but jumpin jeezuz k-rist...unadulterated head shots, disembowlments, limb hacking, and multiple other types of murder and mayhem just dont do it for me.
They could have done a far superior job without the huge amount of gore.
Perhaps story lines are a thing of the past.

You know what's odd.. I didn't even really notice alot of violence. I think it's so over the top and goofy that it doesn't register as "real" to me. It's violent in the same way as Kill Bill was, over the top, and fun.

ya Kill Bill...I actually loved Part 2...Part 1 was just...silly.
I mean violence can be done well...Pulp Fiction is a great example...multiple War movies have done it well....and I am very much into the Comic book genre...and my wife is very much into it as well. Admittedly I never read the series in which Sin City was developed from so I simply cant/wont compare whether the book/movie were a good fit or not.
I just dont buy into the artsy part of this movie being the selling point...its been done just as well before. Artsy mayhem is still mayhem...this movie is Halloween Part 74 in black and white with red lipstick.

lol, nice.
You don't like it, and I'm not certainly not attemping to sway your opinon of it, because I see it has it's merits.. but dammit, I loved this movie. I read some of the Sin City novels a couple years back when I heard they were going to make a movie about it, then I read they were doing it all on green screen, and hated the idea. This is one movie where digital film making was done right. I can't remember a movie that had the "style" that Sin City had, but I could very well be wrong.
But ya, not for everyone.

Saw the 40 yr old Virgin - hilarious movie, kind of has an "Office Space" low budget, nerd comedy feel to it, but a lot of funny lines and physical comedy. May not appeal to all women though.

hmmm..I may be wrong but didnt Warren Beatty do Dick Tracy in the same format? Could be wrong.
The only thing that kept me going in Sin City was the chicks...black and white with red lipstick they still looked hot.
