I find this thread humorous. You go through the "Funny Pictures" thread and almost every page has people ####ting on people for being fat. Is it that it is perfectly okay to make fun of people for being fat, so long as they are not within reaching distance?
Maybe I'm overly sensitive because up until about a year ago, I was almost 350 pounds and constantly had teenagers poking fun at my weight. So when I see "lardass" type comments on CP, it bristles me... and the what I find funny about this thread is the condemnation against these kids for things we just let go here.

I'm not surprised by this. Kids love to cause other peoples suffering. Hell, HUMANS love to cause others to suffer. Left to our own devices, we will cause untold suffering on others. It's only fear of repercussions from society that hold our desires in check. Isn't that what "Lord of the Flies" was all about? I'm not so sure that there are less fears of repercussions today.... my Dad told us stories about his high school was nicknamed "Switchblade High" and the kids that didn't give up their lunch were just as likely to get a nice scar as they were to get a beating. Hell, I remember when *I* was going to school the black kids were getting the N word thrown at them daily... and that was back in the late 70s. My dad once said something like "Yeah, my dad used to beat us silly... but we probably deserved it considering all the #### we pulled".
Oh, and when I was in high school, I remember there were more than a few kids that liked to play the game "Let's make the substitute teacher cry". I remember when one teacher went on maternity leave, they went through FOUR substitutes as the other three all quit within a week from all the pranks, name-calling and other abuse the students threw at them. So, no I don't think this generation is any better or worse than past generations. It's just that we now have Youtube to gawk at and be aghast as this behaviour.
