ya, but it looks like there are still huge gaps to get dirt and grime stuck in there? I have no idea. I'm not a neat freak, but that could be disgusting.

As Photon said, regardless of any spaces between the pennies the entire floor is probably finished with a top coating of lacquer, giving it a top cover over the entire floor.
