How exactly do you quantify a party running huge deficits as a 'Economic Right' party is beyond me.

And as far as I have ever seen, the PC party is more socially conservative than the wild rose party.

But, I guess if you let CBC define things for you this is what you get.

So would you say The Harper Government is not economic right since they're running huge deficits and expect this to continue for at least a few more years? What about the US government from 2002-2006 when the Republicans controlled the House, Senate, and White House yet the government balance went even further into the red?

One strong indicator for me regarding Redford is that a bunch of my Liberal in-laws bought PC party memberships just so they could vote for her in the leadership race. I'm leaning towards WR. I think Redford will bring in a PST.

So much hatred for sales tax, even though it's one of the most economically efficient taxes out there. This is why democracy sucks.

Honestly I think that the Harper conservatives have moved more to being a centrist party then they are a right wing party.

They still have some right wing policies but for the most part they are the center party in this country due to the Liberal's strong shift left and the NDP remaining on the left.

According to CBC, I'm somewhere between the WRA and PC, closer to WRA.

Apparently because I think special interests (natives, landowers, environmentalists, religious minorities etc., public unions, renters etc.) shouldn't be favored over net public benefit, that makes me a conservative.

To be fair, I don't expect to be placed anywhere near the Liberals even though I will be voting for them. (They have gone off the socialist deep end, but I like Kent Hehr.) But I don't feel that classifying me as both a social and economic conservative is in any way accurate.

CTV poll Election 2012:

Quote:
The Think HQ poll for CTV shows that the Tories have a narrow lead with 26 per cent of voter support.

The Wildrose are just two points back at 24 per cent support.

The NDP have ten per cent, the Liberals have nine per cent and the Alberta party has one per cent.

A whopping 23 per cent of Albertans still don't know who they will cast their ballot for.
Quote:
The poll also asked voters what they thought of the party leaders.

The results show that Albertan's preference for the leaders seems to line up with that of the parties.
  • Alison Redford has the edge with a 50 per cent approval rating
  • Danielle Smith has 47 per cent
  • Raj Sherman has 31 per cent
  • Brian Mason has 30 per cent

To follow-up with Dion, Global TV has the new IPOS Poll. PCAA and WRP are tied at 38%.

http://www.globaltvedmonton.com/the+...aign=community

Interesting to say the least. What I find more interesting from following trends online is that the Alberta Liberals may be stagnating a bit and losing ground as the third Party in the mix. The NDP seams to be growing at the expense of the Alberta Liberals.

Those poll numbers from Dion only add up to 70% decided for the four major parties. That seems like a large undecided amount compared to other polls.

Sorry to get on your case Moncton, but I would respectfully suggest the alternative of declining your ballot, which is to fold it up and put it in the box having selected no one. This is not a "spoiled ballot" but a declined ballot and statistics are apparently kept differently for each.

To me that is a fine way of voting, without actually voting.

You can actually go and literally decline the ballot. I did that with the last senate election (because its a dumb exercise). You show up and advise them that you are declining your ballot and they mark it in the book.

If anyone wants to donate to the wild rose and have a hate on for the ndp, the wild rose candidate running against ndp leader brian mason has been working the community for about a year and a half and already has signs up in businesses and is getting them on lawns today. He is a long shot because it is Brian mason, but he has a shot. He is in a wheelchair so door knocking is tough due to the large number of three story walk up apartments in the riding. He could use money for a billboard in another part of the riding. He has been working community events and the phones, as well as door knocking for months (albeit slowly).

People have been responding well to him though, which is a good sign.

I gave him some money, so my money is where my mouth is.

Disclaimer: QR77 is probably listened to by mainly Conservative people so the following poll should not be taken as an accurate reflection of voting intentions in the province.

It does go to show how a lot of Conservative voters are feeling however.

Good to see that the WRA is getting some momentum. Time to get the Liberals, I mean PCs out of power.

How can you find out what WRA events are being held in the Calgary area? I checked the WRA website and couldn't find anything whereas votepc.ca has an 'Events' tab outlining what's coming up without me having to provide an email or sign up for Facebook.

She was in Calgary tonight and will be starting tomorrow in Okotoks before heading to Strathmore and then Drumheller.

The leaders schedule is generally out the day prior. For local candidates, best to check directly with them.

Most won't be doing a heck of lot events, they did most fundraising, etc leading up to the election. If they do events, they will be advertised on websites, flyer delivery or use of the mobile BOLD signs.

Public all candidate forums are likely just in the planning stage.

Remember if you are truly interested in a particular candidate, they will all take the time to meet with you.
