Can't say I followed who is released from the CFL that much in previous years, but it seems to me that a lot of veteran, previously very good players are getting released more.
Changing of the guard to the young kids?

Not surprised coburne got released. I wondered how him and Burris would co exist, when he scored the td in the grey cup he said Burris sucks and is a crybaby on national tv. Coburne comes off as a guy with attitude issues.

yep that's one reason and the other is money issue. Teams does not want to either pay the bonus or pay the guy too much that will get the team over the salary cap.

cant say im overly excited just yet. the guy i wanted signed was alex brink. if the bombers sign brink too, ill be thrilled. but of the 3 qb's the bombers have in stock my best hopes for the future were in brink and elliot.

Reinebold back in CFL as Montreal DC
Warning: the following may induce flashbacks, bad rashes and/or nervous twitches for Winnipeg football fans.
The CFL East just gets more interesting by the day, it seems.
First it was the quarterback carousel bringing in future hall-of-famers Ricky Ray and Henry Burris to join Anthony Calvillo.

VANCOUVER -- The BC Lions Football Club has been informed this evening that offensive lineman Jovan Olafioye has been released by the St. Louis Rams.
|
Quote:
"The St. Louis Rams have notified Jovan Olafioye that they have released him from his contract due to their concerns about a medical issue. Given the closing window to explore opportunities in the NFL in Jovan's current CFL contract, he will return to the BC Lions for another season after thoroughly addressing his status," Olafioye’s representative Dan Vertlieb said in a statement.

Riders will not offer Wes Cates a new contract. Cates, Cobourne and Reynolds all CFL free agents but I believe every team is set at RB. They all might be waiting awhile for a phone call.

Cates will be waiting a long time for a call. Reynolds and Cobourne are serviceable players who should find work.

Cobourne will find work for sure. Reynolds probably will get a call but I think Cates is done. Still the best blocking back in the league but his legs aren't there anymore. Maybe Montreal gives him a call to help protect AC? Not sure

I actually wouldn't mind if the Riders went after Reynolds. Coldborne is the worlds biggest dbag.
I think at this point Reynolds is a very slight upgrade on Cates. All three of those guys are in the twilight of their careers.
Signing Reynolds would leave the Riders with West, who's a shiftier guy, and Reynolds, who's a power back.
No more than a year or two for Reynolds and a low salary.

Esks RB Jerome Messam has signed with the Dolphins. The Esks are in the market for a RB.

They will only need a guy to fill in until the first NFL cuts are made.
Odd signing by the Dolphins you would almost think that they haven't seen a CFL game (although the Wake signing says otherwise) and just looked at award winners because Messam is very meh for a CFL back, let alone trying to make it in the NFL.
