I agree the field at Rundle is a beauty! Very nice work on the logo and lettering. My only complaint is how hard this field already is, that is not ideal for a synthetic surface especailly one that is so new.

The field at WCHS is more multi purpose and will not look nearly as flashy, although the performance will be far better.

Say what you will about the spikes on the roof during the day, I don't see how you see this and think it's an ugly feature. Looks pretty sweet to me when all lit up.

I was just thinking the same thing last night. Looked pretty sweet.

I only fear that a few years from now, half of those bulbs will be burned out and it will look ghetto.

I'm heading there for the Whitecaps game on Sunday. Can't wait.

That's my buddy's place. The view from my beautiful East Van basement suite is of the house across the street and that's about it.

Sitting in BC Place right now. All the great words you hear about it tonight on the broadcast are correct. Amazing stuff.

This will be one of those rare times where I tune into a game just to see the stadium.

Any update on tickets sold?

Is a sellout still the same as before, or has it decreased due to new add ons? There's a chance that this could sell out, especially with the wow factor likely attracting some casual people looking for something to do tonight.

The capacity is a couple thousand less. Bigger seats apparently.

500 million, you figure they could buy some new stencils for the yard markers for football. Same ones used when opened almost 30 years ago, technology has to have advanced where the gaps in the stencil can be filled in.

Looks nice though, look forward to watching the Stamps there in the Grey Cup and I bet would be a great concert venue.

Just judging from on TV, but that turf looks pretty awesome. A lot better than the field turf used everywhere else.

"Hooray for everything" on as the halftime "show".
Complete cheese. Is it 1983 again?

Sarah McLachlan is still hot into her 40s, good choice for the anthem. But this halftime show is horrid.

What the bloody hell was that?

Yeah, I just mentioned that in the CFL thread. It's cute that Vancouver has a cheap imitation of the Stampede Showband.

The "new" BC Place looks nice enough, but I still think they could have built a facility just as good for half the cost. Plus, the Whitecaps should stay in Empire Field.

I thought that too, but the configuration for soccer looks pretty nice. It's probably as good as possible from a roofed stadium, minus having a natural grass pitch. The seats at the endzones extend out to close in the soccer pitch, and they seal off the upper levels to give it a more intimate feel. Plus the turf looks a lot better at BC Place now. I never understood why they were using field turf at Empire, but I guess that's a separate matter.
