In your world is it "ok" for me to have a beer at lunch and drive home after work, 4-5hrs later?

The Back Alley used to have a BA machine where you could see what your BAC for a loonie. Not sure if they still have it. One night a buddy and I tried to see how high we could get our BAC's. I got up to .28 and he was .34. And, of course, we took a cab.

If op really cared, he can accurately determine how many drinks he really had based on breathalyzer results and time spent drinking. This way he can state exactly how many drinks he had. Repeating 'three drinks' over and over again makes him look like a moron. As it stands, his buddy may have been pouring triple oz drinks and he had three and a beer. It is amazing how sharp you can be when a cop busts you thus the denial of being drunk. I am glad op is off the road.

A little over 10 years ago, when I was young and rather stupid, I managed to smash into a car in a parking lot, left the scene and got a "leaving the scene of an accident" ticket (and to be clear I was not drinking, just stupid). I faced losing a ton of demerits, a huge fine and possible license suspension. Decided to go to "Points" and let them handle everything and within a month they had managed to have the charge reduced to "failure to back up properly" which was no demerits and maybe a $70 fine. "Points" would be my suggestion, but get ready to pay a lot of money.

I had one of those hand held breath-a-lzyers once. Evil things they are. I never got drunk and drove, but my friends and I would use it to see who was the drunkest. I remember one morning, 12 hours after my last drink, I blew a 0.19.

Terrible, terrible devices. My friend got one in grade 12 and decided to try and get it as high as possible. He ended up making the stupidest decision of his life and almost died, had a BAC of 0.48 measured in the hospital. I seriously thought he was going to die, I could barely feel a pulse on him when we took him to the hospital. I haven't seen him drunk since then, about 5 1/2 years ago.

Yep, right by the washrooms. And we used to do the same thing. FWIW, I could only get it to .25.

I had to do some reading on this post, not that I don't believe you.
but if your buddy was average sized, lets say 180 pounds, thats more then 20 drinks in an hour.
10. BAC = .30-.50 = Symptoms are complete unconsciousness, depressed or absent reflexes, subnormal body temperature, incontinence, and impairment of circulation and respiration.
Death may occur at .37% or higher. BACs of .45% and higher are fatal to nearly all individuals.

A friend of mine recently returned from Vegas and she spent some time in Emergency with a BAC of .28. (Rehab pool party is to blame)
.28 is apparently good enough to be classified as "alcohol intoxication" but the hospital staff said that BAC approching .50 is where alcohol poisoning happens, and fatalities are a very real possibility.

Pretty much at .50 they test your BAC by tossing a lit match at your blood sample.

This reminds me of that first Tucker Max book where him and his buddies had a device for BAC and a tape recorder so they could keep track of their night. He ended up ####ting himself.

I'd hate to see the 280 pound chick after 5 drinks in a hour.
As a salute to the 1800 pound wannabe woman she could drink, she could down 32 drinks in an hour before she hit .08.
Good times.

I know, it's very unbelievable. But that night he drank an entire 26 of Lambs, then was playing beer pong straight for an hour, where he was playing with I think 12 cup beer pong with the cup 1/3 filled. He was probably around 185 pounds at that time. The doctor said he should have died, I seriously thought he was minutes away from dying.
EDIT: you bolded incontinence, he was definitely incontinent!
