Honestly just picked up my Asus Transformer from MemEx. I'll post a review here in the next few days, once I've used it some more (damn work getting in the way!)

Initial impression is that the build quality is quite good. Def worth the $399

These things are technically a computer. I would love to hear CRA argue otherwise. I am totally writing off my iPad 2.

You can even write off the GST on it since computers for business are exempt from GST (I use simple method).

I am in IT and a tech junkie, so I have been loving this write off business.

Do you charge hookers to "client consultation" too?

Holy crap, according to the site MemEx only posted them at around 8:40am!

Screw work, we want a detailed synopsis by noon!

I had to go in to the store for my pre-order, and they called me at 9 AM to say it was in. Honestly, I expected it in a few weeks, so having it today is just awesome.

As far as my first review, of course I'm liking it so far. Give me some good hands-on with it first, and I'll have better thoughts.
I don't mind the size and weight, and the IPS screen is great with it's viewing angle. Android 3.0 is a nice OS, but it's taking some getting used to, and once it's customized, then I'll be happier. I'm sure I'll look up help files soon, but I like to explore things first.
I also like the esthetics, the brown and black with the textured back. it seems very responsive to the touch/multitouch, not too much parallax.

Well, I found the power button to be kind of touchy, as it doesn't always turn the damn thing on the first try. Along with power, I'm happy to report that it does get warm behind the processor with use, but not crazy hot.

Battery life is as advertised. With 40% screen brightness (which works great indoors so far) I'm over 8 hrs.

Angry Birds on widescreen is awesome. It was also easy as anything to set up the songs/video sharing with my Win7 machine.

After a few days, the $399 seems totally worth it

What codecs does it come with for playing video? For instance, does it play .mkv?

I don't believe Android has any codecs with built in hardware acceleration for mkv but I may be wrong. It used to be you had to convert most videos to one single format to get the best speed but there are media players that play all depending on the power of your system.

Yeah, I just hate transcoding.

There is a page here for developers and supported Android 3.0 codecs

So my iPad2 is being shipped from China. Are there any must have accessories I should get. I have the cover already but what else do I need.

So i guess there are literally NO Asus transformers in Canada due to a supply shortage.

My friend from Taiwan is coming on the weekend and is bringing over 6! hehe. can't wait.

Are there figuratively NO Asus transformers in Canada as well?

Regarding the lack of availability of Asus Eee Transformer:
Quote:
ASUS simply didn’t expect such high demand for the 10 inch tablet with docking station, so the shortage is actually being caused by the high demand. Chang stated that “It really depends on the demand. The current demand surpasses our expectations by far.” So they are ramping up volumes next month, and looking at their projections for Q2 they are on track to achieve and surpass current sales goals of 300,000.

I'm really looking forward to the new Galaxy Tabs coming out.

They are thinner than the iPad 2 and have a higher resolution screen while also being slightly cheaper in price.
