Cam Cunning suffered a slight MCL sprain the other night. Doesn't need surgery, but he'll be out for the rest of the season.

Played in the World Juniors, put up some good numbers in college - sounds promising, at least in the AHL.

He's just filler until Howse or Bennett finish up in the dub.

as long as the Heat make the playoffs...Id think both Howse and Bennett may get at least one round in themselves.

New podcasts are available from the Flames official channel. Short two minute or so interviews with Keith, Bancks, and Lang.

And the Heat won in regulation to keep their playoff hopes alive. I think Matt Keith scored with under a minute to go in the 3rd.

This kid was unbelievable last night. I was at the game last night and he was easily the most noticeable person from either team. He even got an assist on Armstrong's goal because of his hard work.

BTW, Stone didn't play last night because he was attending a family funeral. Something happened to Irving in the first period and was replaced by JPL for the rest of the game. He'll was re-evaluated this morning. Piskula also left the game on what looked like a headshot. He was re-evaluated after the game.

How is the AESC? I keep meaning to trek out there. How often do you attend?

I don't have season tickets, but I've been going to every other home game. The arena's very nice. The attendance is getting increasingly larger every month, and with the increase in attendance comes an increase in noise and atmosphere. Last night was very loud, which seemed to help the team's energy.

The AESC just changed management in January and the new guy has been doing a great job. He's been coming up with great promotions and giveaways with local businesses. Really helps attendance.

Just got home from the game. Nemisz scored a nice PP goal. The Bulldog goalie was screened and he picked the top corner from the right faceoff dot.

Breen stepped up and absolutely crushed Alexander Avtsin in open ice. Very clean hit - Avtsin jumped at the last second and Breen just drove his shoulder into Avtsin's breastbone, then drew an instigator penalty when Conboy jumped in. I hope the video for this hit is uploaded somewhere - what a beauty!

The second goal was an empty netter. Rheault fired it at the empty net. Doink! The puck bounced back out into the slot and Patterson was right there to guide it home.

Overall a somewhat boring game. Shots were 16-10 for the Heat after two periods.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and Lamoureaux with the shutout. He played well and made a couple great saves on partial breakaways.

11 games remaining, all against divsion rivals whom they are battling with for a playoff spot. Just 3 points from 2nd place Lake Erie to 6th place Abbotsford. The Heat also have games in hand against 4th and 5th place teams as well
