Probably has more to do with CalgaryPuck than the Radiohead album.

Went around the internet looking for some reviews. Exactly what I expected, a lot of people ripping into it. "It's only 38 minutes!" "Self indulgent crap!"
Everyone I've talked to personally loves it.

There are some rumors about that this isn't the album and rather the b-sides. Radiohead's Japanese site drops that it's 8 tracks and then Radiohead drops an album with 8 tracks early for no reason? Then there's a weird tweet in Japanese 'Hachiko Square Shibuya, Friday 18:59.'
It's probably nothing, but there's a chance we may be surprised tomorrow morning as well.

Great, I'm trying to have a nice weekend in banff with the Misses, and now I've gotta be checking the web all day tomorrow
Anyways, while I don't want to get my hopes up, this really wouldn't surprise me. I don't think these 8 are the b-sides, but it's possible the album is incomplete?
Wait a minute, isn't the last song called "separator"?? As in separating the first half from the second? Ooo-eee-ooo

Yeah or a Kid A, Amnesiac thing. Maybe more than 2 albums from this recording session. Really hard to believe that they would work this long and come out with only 8 songs worth releasing.
EDIT: This album is opening up to me. Man, it's incredible. Every song.

Just went through the album once, I think it will get better with every listen. I usually find when I first get a hold of a Radiohead album I kind of rush through the songs the first go around, just anticipating what the next song will sound like, instead of just relaxing and enjoying the song I'm listening to. First impression is pretty good, just wish there were a few more songs. Maybe more to come in the near future, I hope.

Unless you somehow get a digital receipt with this one to allow you to download the next or "real" album free, I can't see there being a follow up short term.
It's not like Radiohead to get people to pay money for this under the guise of it their next album, then pulling a "Surprise, that was just a teaser! Now please buy the real one."

You get an order number, so it would be possible. Although I doubt it's the case. This isn't a EP or b-sides. It's too good for that. If these turn out to be the b-sides, the real album might kill me.

Listened once in the background. Only song that I really thought "Yea, this is good" was Lotus Flower.
Reminded me of Thom's solo album. Heavy emphasis on the beat + vocals, nothing much else up front.

Its funny that people are all talking about Lotus Flower, that was one of my least favorite tracks on the first few listens.
Anyways I think I'm reaching my "click" point with this album..that is Ive given it enough spins to start getting it and figuring out some of the melodies and song structures and its starting to click into my head. Its pretty damn good. I love Little By Little. Not sure where the album ranks yet, as if that matters, but its good. I love that these guys continue to challenge us.

I'd say my favorites are Codex and Separator. Not a weak track on the album though.

Listened to it 4 or 5 times now, and nothing has jumped out, good or bad.
Will be added to my general playlist to throw on in the background, but no "appointment songs" that I throw on because I want to hear "that song" specifically.

So this is what hipsters listen to. Pedestrian beats and castrated vocals. Goes well with a fair trade frappucino or so I heard.

Pedestrian beats? lol. Go ask the Roots or Kanye West what they think of Radiohead's beats. Thom Yorke is extremely well-respected in the beatmakers community.
Really lame post FOL. If you keep posting in this thread, I'll have to post a thread on libertarianism to distract you.

Just had a chance to listen to this, and it brought the same reaction as the last few albums....meh. I guess I'm just tired of the blippety bleeps and the whiny Yorke vocals, and wish they had more melodies like they did with the first few albums.
OK Computer is still the pinnacle of Radiohead for me, and honestly my favorite album from the 90s. It managed to be fresh and interesting, while not forgetting that music is supposed to be enjoyable too. The Bends and Pablo Honey are close right behind for me. The rest of them? There's always a song or two I like, but a good majority live somewhere between forgettable and annoying.

I suggest you give In Rainbows more of a try. It is very accessible, and really opens up after 4 or 5 listens. If you like The Bends and OK Computer, you should love In Rainbows.
Also, about hipsters listening to Radiohead, Radiohead is far too popular for hipsters. Actually, that was one of the early telltale signs of a hipster: a huge music fan (not your casual top 40 listener who) calling Radiohead overrated. A sort of hipster litmus test. Now, of course, being "hipster" is essentially the new mainstream with kids, so has pretty much lost any discernible meaning.
