I want FSUCK to stay out of the SEC. They had their chance in 1992 when fat boy Bobby declined the invitation because he wouldn't win titles like he did in the cupcake ACC. Now they had one sell out last year and somehow think they're "back" they want to play with the big boys? F off and go back to the kiddie pool.
I posted the A&M on my facebook Monday and took some heat, I hope to god the SEC doesn't take Mizzou.... they belong in the big ten, if the SEC were to go after yankee schools go after the big boys in UM, OSU, and ND and screw the pip squeaks like Mizzou.
I don't get the "tv market share" crap, the SEC is on primetime every week during the season, they have at least 3 games every week that are being shown in every part of the country. There is no need to add tv markets when you're already the best product in CFB.
I'm not to fond of this crap, I wish we could kick out Arkansas and USC and go out and get some of the charter members in GaTech, and even Tulane.

I hope we get to 4 16 team super conferences. There's a few ways to do it, but one is to add tech, Texas, ou and ok state to a pac16.
Sec adds fsu, Texas am, Clemson and ... Say mizzou since that's the chatter.
Big 10 adds notre dame, maybe 2 of air force, ksu, Kansas, isu
And the acc and big east Amit they are tier 2 and some of the top teams in each make up an Atlantic 16. Such as bc, west Virginia, Virginia, Miami, uconn, Nc state, Va teck, s Florida, wake forest, Cincy, lousiville, Pitt, Nor Carolina, g tech, hmmm and 2 others

No other major conference will take Texas because of their TV contract. They will have to go independent in football and find a conference to take their other sports. Although I guess they might be able to pull off being independent in basketball. If Texas goes independent in football they will be raking in the dough. Their contract with ESPN states that when ESPN reach the ~$300 million in revenue that they paid UT then UT gets 70% of all revenue. If LHN showed almost all the UT games then they would get to that $300 million pretty quickly.

Fsu brings nothing to the SEC. He'll their football program ran a deficit last year and had one sellout because UF got 30k tickets.

KEARNY, N.J. – A University of Miami booster, incarcerated for his role in a $930 million Ponzi scheme, has told Yahoo! Sports he provided thousands of impermissible benefits to at least 72 athletes from 2002 through 2010.
In 100 hours of jailhouse interviews during Yahoo! Sports’ 11-month investigation, Hurricanes booster Nevin Shapiro described a sustained, eight-year run of rampant NCAA rule-breaking, some of it with the knowledge or direct participation of at least seven coaches from the Miami football and basketball programs. At a cost that Shapiro estimates in the millions of dollars, he said his benefits to athletes included but were not limited to cash, prostitutes, entertainment in his multimillion-dollar homes and yacht, paid trips to high-end restaurants and nightclubs, jewelry, bounties for on-field play (including bounties for injuring opposing players), travel and, on one occasion, an abortion.
|
Quote:
In an effort to substantiate the booster’s claims, Yahoo! Sports audited approximately 20,000 pages of financial and business records from his bankruptcy case, more than 5,000 pages of cell phone records, multiple interview summaries tied to his federal Ponzi case, and more than 1,000 photos. Nearly 100 interviews were also conducted with individuals living in six different states. In the process, documents, photos and 21 human sources – including nine former Miami players or recruits, and one former coach – corroborated multiple parts of Shapiro’s rule-breaking.
|
Quote:
“It’s all true,” said one of Shapiro’s ex-girlfriends, who asked to remain anonymous out of fear of reprisals from former Miami players. “He took care of them. What does that mean? It has a lot of meanings. He took care of them by giving cash to make sure they had stuff. He took care of them whenever they wanted to go party. He took care of them by getting them laid. He took care of them if they needed a place to stay. Whatever they needed, at that moment they needed it, Nevin would provide it. Whether it was sex, money, meals, a new TV, if their mother needed something, if they needed a new ring or some jewelry – whatever they needed, Nevin would provide it.”
And Shapiro’s justification for his actions? He said it was simple.
“I did it because I could,” he said. “And because nobody stepped in to stop me.”
|
Quote:
• NCAA rule-breaking with coaches and staffers: Shapiro said he violated NCAA rules with the knowledge or direct participation of at least six coaches
|
Quote:
• Prostitution: Shapiro named 39 Miami players or prospective recruits who he says received prostitution paid for by the booster.

Lots of fallout here over this Miami thing and the Brown brothers who are held on high, or at least were held on high, in these parts.
Will be interesting to see how these allegations effect things in Manhattan.

For the same reason watching your local beer league pales in comparison to watching the NHL, pros are much better than amateurs.

Miami should recieve at least a 5 year ban on bowl games and lose somewhere between 5-10 scholarships a year. 10 years on probation. This is unprecidented so anything is just a guess.

The NCAA won't be fining any individuals, that's not an option, and suspensions are only an option for the handful of players still in the NCAA. Even that seems unlikely, both Brown and Marve have been cleared to play this season, although they aren't at Miami.

The coaches if it is proven that they knew about these financial arrangements and prostitutes etc the NCAA can suspend them for however long they see fit. Correction on the fine comment my bad, i meant sanctions against the U. I wonder what sanctions will come down on the U and suspentions against coaches.

Has there ever been a more off field issued filled game between highly ranked teams to start the season than this LSU-Oregon game? Looks like LSU will be without their starting QB, Oregon should be (oh that's right, you were sleeping in that car doing 120mph Darron, and of course you know nothing about all the pot being smoked) and both teams will be without other stars due to off field issues. It's disappointing that such a great match up will feature teams that aren't at their best.

It's a shame to see actually. I was really looking forward to both teams squaring off at full strength in what surely would have been one of the games of the year. In any case second degree battery is definitely a suspendable offense (Jordan Jefferson & Josh Johns) as well as doing 118 MPH then not showing up in court (Cliff Harris) and breaking into someones home thinking it's your is definitely included (Kiko Alonso). I'm not sure how you can say Darron Thomas should be suspended though? Yes, he should have told Cliff to slow down, but you gotta remember that these are 20 year old kids and at that age I doubt he would have listened anyways. And with respect to the weed, I'm pretty sure possession in Oregon is only a fine, so even if they didn't "smoke it all" i'm not see how this is suspendable offense. It's no worse then say a parking ticket.

Not the first time thomas has been involved in something and slipped by. If he's not the starting QB he's suspended, guaranteed.
