Looking forward to this Djokovic-Murray final. A couple of smart players in a position to really elevate their respective games.

A shame it starts in the middle of the bloody night. Fricken Australia...

The funniest part of the Clijster match was the Chinese in the crowd trying to get to her by yelling during the points but it was distracting Li Na more than anyone. Pretty good match overall, glad it went to 3 sets.

Go Murray!

You can avoid the score.
I avoided the score all day and just watched the replay on TSN.

The Chinese in the crowd don't know how to watch tennis.

I've tried, but working in a newsroom there's no chance that I don't get a score spoiled. They are always coming across the wire or through emails etc.

Luckily, I'm off tomorrow and I'll PVR the men's final. I'm looking forward to it May the best man win!!

Murray didn't have a sniff in this one. Three finals, three defeats, without a set between them.

He just doesn't have what it takes in the big matches. When he is up against it he looks towards the stands where his mother is, almost pleading with her to do something to help him.

I just caught the match. Is it selfish that I found it boring? I thought Murray would at least take a set. Congrats to Novak on his second Aussie Open.

Without any pazazz, Daniel Nestor has won another title, this time the mixed doubles with Katarina Srebotnik.

Overall, a good Grand Slam. I thought the good stories died down four or five days ago and people started to lose interest. It was a great coming out party for Raonic. It looks like he's already qualified for another tournament. He's definitely a name to remember.

This was one of the worst possible grand slam matchups you could have for the men.

Nestor.... Doubles.... he could win 10000 doubles titles and he would have still accomplished less than what Milos Raonic did in 2 weeks in Australia.

Not really. Without Nestor, there is no Raonic. The man works hard, especially with the younger generation of players in Canada.

Maybe I took Bert's comment wrong. I thought it was a shot at the media/TSN for never talking about Nestor who has won a stupid amount of titles but a Men's Single makes it to the 4th Rd and it's national news.

Nope. Doubles tennis has little sports significance. It's boring and has little entertainment value. Did any of you log into TSN's stream or the Aussie open stream to watch doubles tennis? didn't think so.

It's there so people who go live to the matches feel like they get more for their money.

Kotalik in 3 seasons says hi with his $9million and no travel or living expenses.

Is that why he no longer trains in Canada?

Oh and i'm not knocking Nestor. I'm dissing doubles tennis. I'm sure Nestor would trade his #1 world ranking in doubles for a top 120 in the world in singles any day.

Nestor told Raonic to pursue tennis when he was about to give up on it. He helps him train on a regular basis and yes, goes to see him in Spain.

Like i said, i'm not knocking Nestor but doubles tennis. It is complete filler and is a big waste of time.

When was the last time anyone wanted to watch a doubles match? Maybe a few years back when they wanted to see if the Williams sisters were going to start a fight on the court?

It's not even about the doubles. It's just too bad Nestor doesn't get recognized for his achievements (not directed at you). He has the Order of Canada, Olympic gold, has won countless awards and remains a viable part of the tennis circuit, despite his age.

Hopefully, he can work even closer with Tennis Canada when he decides to retire. I think his experience and attitude can really help a country that's been a joke of the tennis world for awhile now.

Actually, on paper it looked like it would be a really good match. Too bad Murray didn't show up though, Nole was better in every aspect. Especially his serve.
Murray has the talent, he just needs to become mentally stronger. But then again, it's not easy when the entire UK is on his back to become the first UK player to win a Grand Slam since 1936. No pressure.

As for Nestor, he and his partner Zimonjic (now ex) got a lot of exposure here in Serbia. And the doubles in general. Sure, it's a lot less popular than singles, but over here (in Europe in general) the doubles have more meaning that it might mean in NA. Besides, playing doubles is not as easy as you think.

I like Nestor, he could have bolted for another country when things were going bad in Canada. But he's always been there in Davis Cup and will teach Raonic alot about volleying and playing the big matches. Nestor's singles isn't bad, he just can't play a full season on tour. He caused quite a few singles upsets in Davis Cup and in the majors.

Doubles is ok, they've done alot to try and spice it up, like no 'advantage' and no 3rd set. However, it's just the undercard most nights before the singles. The problem is that singles is so physically demanding nowdays that none of the top singles players can really play doubles anymore.

Finally, Murray will never win a grand slam. He's too defensive, and has no weapons to turn a match around on the big stage. His style is too physical to last 7 best-of-5 set matches.
This was his best chance, easy draw, no Soderling, no Nadal, no Federer. He only had to be one top ranked guy, and he couldn't.
