He is not one of the 10 finalists, but neither are any other freshman. Nine of the ten finalists are juniors or seniors.

Phil Kessel is about the only guy I can think of in recent years who had a comparable Freshman season.

Was flipping channels, seen some Boston College hockey on, thought "yeah, I'll watch this....see Arnold and Gaudreau play!"

Gaudreau scores with 2 minutes left to tie it up against UND......post it........check online and see the game is from last November.

Ah well.

After the loss tonight, it was nice when I saw the Johnny Gaudreau thread had been bumped up.

A prospect thread being bumped usually means they scored or had a big game.

Lol I saw that too, it was on "the score".no wonder that channel is just about toast.
That was an impressive goal by Gaudreau though, fighting for space against a big dman and winning the battle. The 1 second left OT loss was crazy as well.

Do they have broadcast rights to anything? They should regularly play AHL games or something, I'd totally watch that. They still have bench brawls and entertainment down there.

No, he hasn't signed his entry level yet. I don't expect him to until AT LEAST after his junior year of college. He needs to pack on the muscle and learn the speed of the NHL game before he signs here.

Hopefully he can add some serious lower body strength in the next few years. If he does, he might have a chance of doing something in the NHL. At his size, he's going to have to be a serious gym rat to make it.

The kid's got obviously got some big time talent, but as we all know, talent alone can only get you so far.

Regardless, I have a feeling he's going to be a fun prospect to watch.

John Gaudreau, Bill Arnold and the first-ranked Boston College Eagles play the #6 Minnesota Gophers in the NCAA Frozen Four semi-final today @ 8:00 ET. The winners will advance to the finals on Saturday.

Go Gophers! As much as I like the flames prospects I will still root for the Goofers.

Is there any worry with these Flames college players that they will decide to become UFAs after their college days are done?

I am. It's too easy for these guys to go UFA and it should be changed in the next CBA.

Why is that? Is it because they go to college for four years? How much sway does the team have?

The way I understand it, they can declare that they are not returning to College in any year or wait for the 4 years and become a UFA on August 22nd of the year that they don't return to College. There may be more to it and I'd be glad if others could add to this understanding.
