I have been wondering about this guy... Did he ever get his AHL debut? I think I remember he was injured last Friday. Did he start on Saturday?
No, he sat the entire weekend. They were no hurry to rush him into the lineup while injured and were going to be patient with him as they would like to get him in, but only when healthy.
It sounded like he may make his debut this Friday as it was only believed to be a minor injury.

Can anyone comment on how Klimchuk has been making out?
Still feeling the pro game out. The kid is so so quick and works the boards really well. He's had a few flashes of offense, but hasn't done that on a consistent basis just yet.
He's on the right track though. It's just a matter of adjustment.

I seem to recall similar things said about Max Reinhart
Watched Klimchuk and the Pats play tonight. The kid can play... very smart at both ends, great hands, shot lots, and wasn't afraid to get into the dirty areas.
Not to mention with Regina down 3-2 in middle of the 3rd, he took the game over scoring a natural trick for a 5-3 win!!

Thanks for the update. Have you watched a lot of Klimchuk this year ? I was wondering if you know if he's played mostly on the RW or LW?
Here's a link to a summary, and video of Klimchuk's goals last night if anyone is interested:

I was at the game too. Connor Gay had a great game as well. Went to HS with him and his dad was my principal (great guy) so I was pretty happy when he and Klimchuk tore apart the Blades in the 3rd.

Your principal's name was Mr. Gay?

All this guy does is score clutch goals and win you games. Just don't see how that translates to the NHL...
I still think he has the potential to be a top 6 forward. Problem for him is the Flames are looking to be pretty stacked in a couple of years with Monahan, Gaudreau, Bennett, Poirier and possibly Baertschi & others ahead of him on the depth chart. He'll probably be contributing from the 3rd line, which I don't see as being a problem.

I think his ability to move up and down between the top 6 and the 3rd line as well play in all situations and play both wings bodes really well for him. I haven't seen him live this year but whenever I watch his U18 or WHL highlights, what strikes me is his ability to finish. Exactly the kind of player we need.
