The article says part of the reason for jota, and it doesn't mention timo but based on what klopp said about him it matches, is that liverpool aren't paying a lot up front, the swap part covers first years payment

So their is still no major outlay this year, since thiagos deal is in installments also

Chelsea interest also would have played a part. Not worth getting into a bidding war over in both transfer fee and wages that you won’t be able to win.

Not only is the transfer fee more flexible, but Jota is probably on half the wages that Werner is and Edwards and FSG have tended to be pretty set on being disciplined with the wage structure. If the reported wages are true (and you can never really tell), Werner would be one of the highest earners at Liverpool, making more than Mane, Henderson, etc. And who knows about signing bonuses and agent fees. Werner is worth more than Jota yes, but he’d be coming in as a rotation player all the same, throwing a wrench into that wage structure when they’re being cautious with money doesn’t fit the M.O.

Lowest points in a season looking in jeopardy with Fulham and West Brom looking like absolute ass.

Leeds on the other hand look great, might not quite have enough depth to challenge for a European spot this year, but if Bielsa stays they might in a couple years.

not going to lie, 7-7 goals in two games is impressive lol

Yeah, I'm not sure if this level of goal production is sustainable.

Entertaining as hell for sure, but if they play wide open like this all season they're going to be exhausted and exposed.

But the thing for Leeds is they just need to stay up and then build the depth. Playing 7 goal matches every week might not get you into the top 6, but West Brom, Fulham and West Ham look so poor (plus Villa barely survived last year), so its tough to see Leeds as relegation candidates.

I knew Bale's wages were high, but I didnt think they were that high.

£600K per week? I'd sit on Real Madrid's bench for that.

£31,000,000 a year to live in a beautiful city and golf full time? Sign me up for that ####. Also, don't sign me up to play for United. Lololololol.

I'm all for watching United get screwed...but that seemed particularly egregious.

Play had gone on and everything.

Its hard picturing this Arsenal team doing much of anything this season. They have some interesting attacking players but that that defence? Yikes.

Like they have to shore up the defence to see the game out and they're bringing on....David Luiz?

Tierney injured himself in the pre game warm up.

Arsenal missed him because frankly, Kolasinic is a complete liability.

Not a good performance, but if you look at Arsenal’s defensive record since Arteta has made an impact, it is amongst the best in the league.

I suppose what constitutes "much of anything" for Arsenal? I think top four would be a very successful season for Arsenal and definitely think they can get that. No, they aren't really a threat to win the league, but it's gonna take some time for Arteta to get things headed in the right direction.

Done and so is Reguilon! That Son-Kane-Bale front three looks amazing. I guess Bale is hurt and expected to be out for a few weeks. Looks like his return is expected to be against West Ham.

For all the grief Spurs fans give Levy, he’s had an incredible window.
