That was a bit of a blast from the past episode, with more promised next week, it seems.

I always like that challenge, and it looked like Dee had a solid strategy for winning that took the stress off her toes.

Kind of a shame that Kaleb's gone, though I suppose it was inevitable with him getting all the votes last time.

It was also interesting to see some of how Sifu's name was spelled this time around. I had never thought about it before (figuring some folks to just be bad spellers) but...while we know how to spell their various names, the castaways just met each other and wouldn't have any opportunity to see how a person's name is spelled.

Really fun episode! That alliance of 5 is going to be extremely hard to break up going forward.

For the past few weeks, Kellie said that Bruce, who he regarded as his number one ally, would be the end of her in this game. And he was, just not in the way that she expected. Bruce won a clutch Immunity Challenge after losing his vote in the auction, causing everyone to scramble. Regardless of old Belo being targeted, Kellie was confident that her relationships--and a possible new women's alliance--would lead to Jake getting the boot. But the Reba alliance had other plans. Fearing Kellie a bigger threat, they allowed Jake to put on a show, thinking he was going and wasting his Shot in the Dark.

Before tribal I thought they should have let it leak that Kellie was going, and that Bruce was out if he hadn't won immunity so he knows he has no allies except Kellie, in an attempt to have Bruce play his idol for her to flush it. Then vote Jake out.

Last night was a very good episode. About time, more of those and this season may be saved.

Loved the auction.

My only player remaining is Bruce and I still want him gone.

That was a good episode, the editing was well done and I totally expected a one sided vote.

The reaction was also priceless. "What the heck guys" you mean what the heck you're actually playing this game!?!?

Could make the rest of the season more interesting, but step two for me would be breaking up D and Julie. Julie's got goat written all over her and D could win it.

This season is finally starting to pick up a bit.

I liked the Immunity Challenge and the stakes. That upped things nicely.

"It didn't even occur to me that they might LIE."...I burst out laughing. Oblivious. Glad she's done.

Since the merge this has been one of the better American seasons in recent history. I think the 90 minute episodes are doing wonders for the show as well allowing us to see a lot more discussion, strategy and game play.

3 idols in the game and 8 players left so I expect we see some serious action with those in the next couple episodes.

Since Austin, Emily, and Katurah were out first in the challenge, they each lost their vote but had an opportunity to win it back on a journey where they would face off against… math. Not even complicated math involving fractions or decimals or quotients or other terms this writer only vaguely understands, but rather math involving simple addition and subtraction. But the equation was not exactly simple.

The players had numbers 1 through 9 written out in reverse order and then had to insert three plus signs and one minus symbol somewhere in between those numbers to equal 100. How hard was it? Well, Probst said on his podcast that he tried it out himself and thought it was too easy and that everybody would get it. He was wrong. Evidently, Surivor host Jeff Probst is some sort of super genius because while University of Chicago MBA student Austin nailed it, lawyer Katurah and noted financial analyst Emily were completely stumped.



There were some other weird looks going on at Tribal this week. Am I the only one that noticed Jake turning dramatically to look right at Kendra during the reading of the votes? What in the name of a Jack and Jill movie reward was that all about? He voted for her, she voted for him. So what gives?

Speaking of Kendra, the fact that she did not even consider the fact that players could be lying about losing their vote at the journey kind of sums up why Kendra did not win Survivor 45. Fun personality. Would love nothing more in the world than to put down some beers with her and her biological dad and find out what what it even means to be born on a cusp, but she never appeared to be a true threat to win this game.

This is the part that really got me. They didn't even bill this as a math problem but as a logic one, and they gave the Survivors a huge boost..."Without changing the order of the numbers as given."

How was this hard at all? You need to get to 100 so you start with 98 and quickly work from there. I could see some playing around with the numbers after that, but you can't change the order, so there wouldn't be much.

I suppose the puzzle may be a bit different if you aren't thinking clearly due to lack of food/good sleep, so I'll give them that. I am kind of amused that Emily is supposed to be some smart financial analyst and she does nothing but tell us how bad she is with analyzing and numbers. HOW exactly does she do her job, and does she think that after this, anyone who's seen the show will want her near their finances?

Given the lack of food plus stress from an hourglass dripping in front of you and desperately trying to regain your vote, I could see it being tough for sure.
