Finished the golf season with nice 1 over 9 holes at Earl Grey. Perfect fall evening.

Amazing fall morning for golf! Tons of leaves but somehow didn't lose a ball in them. Round was a bit slow with all the searching though.
One more round and pack it in. Hopefully some winter range time this year.

We tried with the Glen Eagles Ryder Cup last year and had no luck either- I think we were willing to take any of the packages as well. I would imagine the demand would be even higher for a europe hosted one, no? The funny thing is we still ended up going over to the UK in July that year and could have easily gotten tickets for the Open Championship, but decided not to- didnt want to drive up to Liverpool.

I phoned my brother, who lives in Minneapolis, to see if he might be able to get some corporate tickets from his place of work. The scalpers will probably be looking for a premium on tickets they have and i'd rather not go that route.
I missed out on the 2009 PGA Championship when it was playing at the same course (Hazeltine) in Chaska Minnesota. The person he was getting tickets from didn't come through. It would have been awesome to witness that final round where YE Yang beat Tiger Woods. All I got was a damned hat

The gale force winds were blowing in Nanton and ruined what was otherwise a great day for golf. Quit after 13 holes.

Not sure if my last 2 rounds are my last this season.D'arcy in the wind and Delacour in ######ed wind.
Both beat me up,but I can't think of another course in Calgary that is more fun to play in the wind, than Delacour.

Struggling to find a decent tee time for Saturday between 11 and 12:30. No Delacour, Speargrass, Inglewood. Had to settle for after 1pm at McKenzie. If anyone sees any openings please post. Prefer the SE or S, E of the city.

Let's get one up for tee times on the general public
Next weekend looks borderline.
Post courses that will definitely be open or definitely be closed.
D'arcy Ranch-definitely closed.

Speargrass will be open as long as possible. They get the help from the community each year that allows them to cover all 18 greens in one day. All the volunteers get free food and drinks in return.

Played our annual last round of the year at Speargrass this afternoon. Even better was the birdie I got on the 18th to finish the season. Ended up with 77 rounds this year.

Sheesh it's like a war on golf courses lately.... So many on the sale block for redevlopment into housing.
Canyon Meadows (on hold?), Harvest Hills (dead), McCall (postponed), Hamptons (a few holes for now), and now... Glen Abbey?

Got a tee time at Silverwing for Saturday. Easily the latest I've ever played in Calgary.

Does anyone have any experience with either "Game Golf" or "Arccos Golf"? They are stat tracking systems that attach to your clubs. I was wondering if they are any good or just a fancy gimmick.

No first hand experience, but my brother and a couple of acquaintances have Game Golf and from what I have seen it works well. I have toyed with the idea of getting one as well. It appears they now have a new one that gives you real time access to your stats as opposed to having to hook it up to your computer after the round.

That's the Arccos system. It uses your phone for GPS info.
