The point system needs adjusting.
You should score FIA points if you get the positions bang on. Then get a single point if your driver makes the top 10.
Otherwise the "pool" will devolve to Merc, Ferrari, RBR in the top 6, then whoever you think beyond that.

I'm ok with changing it to that...we didn't really get time to flesh out ideas before Australia.
Was also thinking of some kind of "multiplier". Eg. DoubleK picked a Toro Rosso in the right spot at 10th...Kvyat...so based on last years manufacturers standings they were 9th so Kvyat gets his ranking (1) PLUS 9 to score 10.
These are based on DoubleK suggestion. No change in ranking and everyone got either 7 or 8 correct.

I'm fine either way and will defer to the majority opinion. Basically, it was just a suggestion to make me feel better about my terrible result.

When the idea was proposed, I checked what other fantasy F1 pools do. From one of the sites:
Quote:
Full Points for a pick:
You'll get the full 10 points for each exact pick. Example: You pick Kimi to come in 3rd, and Kimi finishes in 3rd place, so, you get 10 points for that pick.
Partial Points for a pick:
You'll get partial points for each of your picks that finish in the Top 10. The formula is as follows:
10 (Full Points) minus (-) the difference between your pick and the actual placing of that driver.
Example: You pick Kimi to finish in 4th place. Kimi actually finishes in 2nd place. So, 4th place minus (-) 2nd place is 2, (4 - 2 = 2), which is the difference between your pick and the placing of that driver. Your score for that pick would be 8 points, (10 - 2 = 8).
|
Only points for the top 10 so I think it’d then be 0 points for any driver you pick top 10 who finishes outside.
Just throwing it out there. I’m cool with whatever. It’s nice just to have some more interest in F1 on CP.
On a somewhat related note I was wearing my Red Bull hat in the mall and a guy working at the clothing store I was in started talking to me about F1. It was literally the first time anyone has talked to me about F1 in Calgary. It made my day. Not counting the people who make random NASCAR jokes. Or the people who ask if I work for red bull or if I’m a race car driver. (Don’t worry I always say yes lol)

Riccardo is really struggling out there today. P15 does not look good on him.

Especially with Hulk P5 right now. I know hes in a brand new Renault chassis after that big hit on the drain in Australia. Didn't think it'd take them this long to figure it out though.
Alfa apparently had a dual failure on their cars causing a leak of some kind.
Haas and Ferrari look really strong so far...but we know how much that means. Lol.
And what happened to Gasly? P4 in a Toro Rosso last year and is now P12 in a Red Bull with Mad Max P6.

Watching FP2 now, the Ferrari's seam to have figured out their issues from Australia. Top 7 within 1 second, so should be a decent fight. Williams 3 and 4 seconds back...ugh.

Looks just like the old Man.
Quote:
Mick Schumacher, son of seven-time champion Michael, will make his Formula 1 test debut for Ferrari on 2 April.
The 20-year-old German, who signed up to the Ferrari driver academy over the winter, will drive for them and the affiliated Alfa Romeo team in Bahrain.
Briton Callum Ilott, another member of the Ferrari academy, will also test for Alfa Romeo in Spain on 14-15 May.
"Mick and Callum are drivers on the way up," Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto said.
"I believe that driving in an official setting such as the tests in Bahrain and Barcelona can be very useful at this stage of their careers."
Their opportunity comes at official F1 tests attended by all the teams - the first is after this weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix, the second after the Spanish Grand Prix.

Him and Leclerc could be quite the emotionally driven battle in the future at Ferrari.
