lol Ras was shopped all summer, heck a deal was done by all accounts
Vancouver is in a terrible spot right now...they traded a first just last season not really who you want to envy

Oh I'm just going off what Friedman and Dreger had said recently. That we haven't made the vets available as of yet.

Now let’s see how soon trades (and yes I mean more than one) occur to see if publicizing this really means anything.

The problem with the Canucks is with the exception of Garland, all of their valuable vets have NMC and can therefore dictate if or where they go. I didn't include Hughes because I don't see them trading him this year.

Ras is available...who is Vancouver trading that is anywhere near that level?

Won't be long until we arrive at the one-year anniversary of the Flames making a single player trade. The only deal they've made since Frost/Farabee was swapping 7ths with Detroit at the draft. They're overdue to start making deals again. But I wonder how much the Conroy situation is playing into that.

Best seller deals last season were made by Boston and the Islanders...at the deadline, after saying they weren't selling. Deals so good I don't even need to tell you what ones I'm talking about.

That's not necessarily true. Friedman said today Ras keeps changing his mind on if he wants to stay. And we won't make a decision to trade him until he decides he for sure wants out.

don't think he said that part about Ras, maybe about the others that aren't pending UFAs

Ras would be happy to stay if he got the term and money he wants. He isn't getting it, he will be traded. If he was going to get it that would have gotten done before the season started. Unless Andersson suddenly has a change of heart on those two things he is moving and I don't see why he would.

If anything, I would imagine Rasmus will be moreso emboldened to seek even greater money and term after the start he's had, and I don't think CGY is going to be able to get to that level with him.

I meant the Canucks. There seems to be a belief that publicizing “come and get it” means that action will soon follow. I personally believe waiting for a deadline (Trade deadline especially) would result in better actual offers, but what do I know. Maybe the “just do something” crowd will be temporarily placated By hearing the “come and get it” yell… until it turns into even more frustration from no action or poor returns.

Seems like nearly a full rebuild already but I suppose there's those that desparately need extra rebuilding so rebuilding the rebuild we must!

I thought this was interesting so went the following season, when they first missed the playoffs after trading Tkachuk for Huberdeau. List below is players that played >5 games for the Flames in the 2022-2023 season. Coronato and Wolf each had 1 game a piece, Philips had 2 and Desimone had 4, didnt included any of them. Bold if they've played a game for the team this season.
Toffoli
Lindholm
Kadri
Backlund
Huberdeau
Dube
Mangiapane
Coleman
Lewis
Ruzicka
Lucic
Duehr
Brett Ritchie
Stecher
Pelletier
Nick Ritchie
Rooney
Andersson
Hanifin
Weegar
Zadorov
Tanev
Stone
Stecher
Gilbert
Mackey
Markstrom
Vladar
6 out of 28 players, so 22 players have been traded/waived/walked over 2 seasons, or 78.6% of the team.
Bonus:
2022 - 2023
The average age of the Flames roster for the 2022-2023 season was 28.39, good for 9th oldest team. They were 0.85 away from 4th oldest, 0.88 from being 3rd oldest.
2025-026
The average age of the Flames roster for this season is 27.27, good for 7th youngest. They are 0.39 away from being 4th youngest, 1.1 from being 3rd youngest.
In the past 3 drafts ('25, '24, '23) the Flames had 24 draft picks.
In the 3 drafts preceeding that ('22, '21, '20) the Flames had 19 draft picks.
In the 3 drafts proceeding that ('19, '18, '17) the Flames had 15 draft picks.
So 78% player turnover and more draft picks. Moving from amongst the oldest to youngest teams in the league. From maxed cap, to 5th highest available cap space. Currently sitting 2nd last in the league.
But clearly the Flames haven’t picked a direction and need to commit to rebuilding.

It is definitely a healthier perspective, and highlights we should be optimistic that the team is actually, rebuilding. Despite Don's comments.
