I'd lol if the canes effed this up.

Would there be a cap related reason for them to delay the filing of the contract?

I was thinking the same. It would be a (I assume) retained Rasmus for the rights to Nikishin

I would think the flames would have to add in an Andersson for Nikishin trade? Maybe Andersson + Florida’s 1st round pick for Nickishin? Maybe not enough unless Andersson signs an extension with the Canes.

Just do the deal when he can be extended and offer any prospect not named parekh. Would hurt, but nikishin would fit perfectly on this roster.

If we could somehow turn Andersson into Nikishin that would be unbelievably good asset management.

Weegar
Parekh
Bahl
Nikishin
Brzustewicz

With some other really solid D prospects close to making the jump to NHL. Doesn't solve the C problem but our D would be set for years on both sides.

Gives us the LSD that we need as well. Plus they are young, so we can get hyper focused on C and not be wasting years.

Young #1 top flight centers usually make an immediate impact on teams, so having a matured D and younger forwards isn't the worst thing. You can contend with that model for many years.

I’m starting to the think the march-to-their-own-drummer Carolina way of doing things isn’t all it’s cut out to be. And maybe their success in recent years is due mostly to Brind’Amour.

If Nikishin does become available, there will be a huge bidding war. I expect it would take a lot more than Andersson.

According to Eric Tulsky, Nikishin's contract terms are settled, but they haven't signed the contract yet because they want the option of an ATO so he will be eligible for the AHL playoffs. This is pretty normal procedure for players who otherwise wouldn't be AHL-eligible.

So what's got Nikishin's agent's knickers in a twist, and what makes him think he's in any position to demand a trade? I don't get this.

They can do what they do without being inhuman #######s. Why tell him he will play and put the goofy MVP thing in the contract if there is no intention of playing him in the playoffs?

Good for the kid and his camp - #### those hill billies.

$92k that he thought he was getting this week, and the chance of playing in the NHL playoffs - sound like they dangled that last bit. It’s bait and switch shenanigans.

Hillbillies? In the largest city in the Research Triangle?

Are you having trouble with U.S. geography, or do you just call all Americans hillbillies without thinking?

His agent should know how NHL teams do business. An ATO so a player can get into the AHL playoffs right away is pretty standard procedure. Throwing a player from overseas straight into the NHL playoffs isn't.

I thought about it so much, and I still think they are hill billies. They imported a bunch of smart people - the natives are banjo strumming hill billies.

WTF is this? Carolina Puck? LOL

You are right, that’s what should have happened. But it didn’t, promises were made and feelings were hurt. Hence there is a story.

You know, your bigoted stereotype of people from the South is exactly the same as the stereotype bigots from Eastern Canada have of Albertans.

Do you happen to know when the term ‘Research Triangle’ came into use, and why? If so, you'll understand why calling the people of that area ‘banjo-strumming hillbillies’ is absurdly off base.
